Guest harasn Guests Posted 30/01/03 10:42 PM Share Posted 30/01/03 10:42 PM laminge beat me to it. I was going to say that you need to make sure the openning for the intercooler is as free flowing as possible. With the turbos you have the intercooler, power steering cooler, ac condensor and finally the radiator with the auto cooler in the side of the radiator. Its all very busy and hot in there. Any restriction in the front can be bad. I'd like to see you put a temp probe in in a few different spots to check the temps before and after the fitting of the grill. Its not a problem on the GT's and V8s as they dont have an intercooler. Just something to think about.

Guest XR_Strider_GuY Guests Posted 02/02/03 10:26 PM Share Posted 02/02/03 10:26 PM I think what this so called 450Nm limiter is basically the boost set at a maximum of 6psi. Just like any engine when it's cold it has denser air hence it will make more power. I'm not suprised if the torque on and power cold day would 250kw and 460Nm. Just with the air intake reason why it will give abit more power is that engine tuning out of the factory tends to have them running very rich. So you increase the air it leans the engine alittle which gives it more power. But yes I can see why Ford would hold back the XR6-T potential, no way will Ford make it that much quicker than the XR8. Guest JESMAL Guests Posted 03/02/03 12:36 AM Share Posted 03/02/03 12:36 AM Ahhhh....I can see owners of T6s up their boost to 1.2 or 1.3 bar, upgrading their gearboxes and "whooooooooooossssssssssssssssh...." bye bye XR8!I've got mine at 7psi and I'm loving it. Don't think I can up it anymore unless I want to port my engine, change the injectors and pistons, and consider having a spare gearbox put aside ready to be fitted when the current one gives way.
Guest Mr Walker Guests Posted 20/02/03 04:54 AM Share Posted 20/02/03 04:54 AM I know this is from an old thread but I was wondering if anyone else had fitted a mesh grille. What sort of brackets/ clamps did you use to attach it?
