(sorry, maccas ad on TV... grrr) Not necessarily every time would the force be put to the ground.ie, if a G-meter was used, then if, say, I was to "accidentally" break traction in a major way (oops... *grin*) that would mean that the turbo could go unchecked and overboost??? After all, when you're sitting there half sideways leaving nice black twin lines on the road, you ain't pulling too many g's!However you could easily bust gearboxes, diffs, etc... Just doesn't make sense to me anyway.Personally I think it's BS. I want someone to PROVE that it's limiting it, so I can learn how it works! Only way I can think of is that they have the matrix that richdave mentioned, taking information such as fuel, o2, mix, engine revs, etc and some tricky mathematics could be used to control the level of boost to keep things in a specific area of that matrix/curve.Hm.Put it this way - if they've found a way which we can dynamically measure the engine's torque output (ie so they can limit it dynamically such as if any mods are done to the car) then they've just done dyno places out of a business... I mean, when you have torque and revs, you can work out power as well... Anyone able to hook something up to the car CAN and listen in for a "torque sensing" broadcast?C'mon you electronics engineer boffin dudes - break into this sucker so we can go mod-crazy! I am thinking of fitting a small grill.The intercooler on my car gets clogged with insects and has been slightly damaged by stone flung at it by another vehicle. I'd hate to think what kind of damage a bird could do. Does anyone know where I can get some protection for the intercooler - perhaps some type of screen/mesh/guard? I am convinced that the Intercooler is going to get damaged by stones, birds, alligators, rodents cats and other assorted flying bits. It is low and unprotected. The cooler in the BA is a Garrett bar and plate.Having a larger intercooler doesn't mean you have more lag. Lag defines the time it takes for your turbo to reach positive pressure. In the BA about 2000rpm. A friend has a 10second GTR with a T88 turbo. The exhaust turbine wheel is so big it takes about 4000rpm to reach positive pressure. Increasing the size of the intercooler can, but not always, reduce the pressure going into the combustion chamber due to the pressure drop across the intercooler. Well designed intercoolers have little impact. If your really concerned about the flow rate of your intercooler, get it flow bench tested.A few friends race in super sedans and GTP, and I’ve never known them to get their coolers tested. A cheap way is to get a manometer and a power vac or something. Peak boost on the BA is 6psi @ 2500-3000rpm, but then it drops off to about 5psi until about 5800rpm.
