Guest SA Tickford Guests Posted 16/01/03 07:10 AM Share Posted 16/01/03 07:10 AM that's almost identical to what I have done except mine is in black to match the grill at the top.

Or should i say what needs to be done to install it.?
Guest Turbo-6 Guests Posted 17/01/03 07:12 AM Share Posted 17/01/03 07:12 AM I like it, it looks pretty good.. what did the meshing cost and how much did it cost to install? Or should I say what needs to be done to install it?Apparently it was fitted free of charge by the dealership - they whipped it up in the workshop. It was fitted from underneath the vehicle, up through the front bumber. Not sure how it is supported.Perhaps SA Tickford can elaborate on the installation..... Guest SA Tickford Guests Posted 18/01/03 12:48 AM Share Posted 18/01/03 12:48 AM Installing the mesh grill into the bottom gap is a fairly time consuming job. You can buy the mesh from autobarn in different colours and patterns for about $50. I would recommend getting someone else to do it for you or if you cant do that get someone to help you out cause its not a one person job. It slides up through the bottom but in order to do it and see what you are doing you have to unbolt some parts of the front and jack the car up. Harves Member 20 Member For: 21y 11m 30d Posted 22/01/03 09:21 AM Share Posted 22/01/03 09:21 AM I would say the way the XR6T limits torque is by measuring the amount of air entering the motor. This would be done by the MAF sensor. If the computer senses that there is too much air going into the engine (more air+fuel =power) for a given rpm, boost preasure, temp ect then it will simple back the motor off untill it reaches its setpoints. As for feeling better in colder conditions, this is because you would actually be getting the 450nm, while during hotter conditions this would be backed off to protect the engine. HSV used this same method with there gen3's. If the XR6T doesn't have a MAF sensor then that shoots my theory up the arse!
Guest SupraTT Guests Posted 23/01/03 08:21 AM Share Posted 23/01/03 08:21 AM Can you guys provide me with any info on the intercooler for the XR6T?Much appreciated! What sort of info r u after for the XR IC. Info on standard intercooler or an aftermarket unit? The standard unit is rather small for the capacity of the engine/turbo combination. You need a unit similar in size to a GTR cooler. Ford had made quite a good choice in the possitioning and construction on the standard intercooler. However the pipe work leaves alot to think about, easy fix.The cooler had to be small, otherwise the XR6 would have dominated the XR8, not that it doesn't. A true measure of a vehicel is it's potential, that is my belief. Others may think otherwise. There should be no fear of any damage to the standard intercooler, it is a bar and plate core, it would have to be a very big and sharp object traveling very fast. They are extremly tough, heard of them being severly bent in truck accidents, straightened and leak tested with no leaks. A mesh should be only considered on a basis of cosmetic appeal, and that's it.Feel free to add.......
Guest SupraTT Guests Posted 24/01/03 11:05 AM Share Posted 24/01/03 11:05 AM Has anyone measured their inlet temps yet?At the manifold that is. If so post them up, would like to compare notes.Thanks.......
Guest SA Tickford Guests Posted 26/01/03 12:10 PM Share Posted 26/01/03 12:10 PM Well im glad I did add the mesh to the gap in the bottom of the bar. Went on a cruise through the riverland with the club today and at the last stop one of the members pointed out that the mesh didn't look right. We all gathered around and discovered something had hit it and bent the mesh. I hate to think what might have happened had the mesh not have been there.
