the optima yellow tops are cost price of around $240 for the normal size (physically). I know that most bigger car audio places can get them in and most battery places stock them. Knowing the cost price maybe go somewhere you can bargain. JB HiFi can get them in but probably won't have one in stock

I use a yellow top optima

Cannot recommend it highly enough!

Never fails me, can leave everything open, stereo going all day, lights on etc - still cranks perfect.

When it fully charged it cranks like its on speed lol, love it.

Worth every cent as they last for ages and have great warranty!

Yep did some research on light weight Odessey batteries, but seams many many returns unhappy chappies, seams they dont hold a chrage long 2-3 days then drain dead, and lots dieing after 12mth, so then found the yellow top Optimas seam to be the go, long life very well regarded, expect to pay $250-$290 at the cheapest, but if your straped for cash and in Brissy just pop down to Self Serve spares at Wacol for $30 bucks pick one out of a scraped car, got one last week workin fine.

P.S the numbers 330, 440 ect usually refer to Cold Cranking AMps, a 4ltr Falcon 6cly would usually rate about 400CCa.

the one's you can pick up new for around $250 are the smaller yellow tops, unless your after the space or weight saving I would go the full sized yellow top. I ve got mine mounted in the boot so I can have the airbox on the turbo side and because they are a sealed gel battery you don't have to vent them to outside the car and you can mount them any way they fit (sideways, upside down ect.)
