I came across these guys that sell them for $440 http://www.justjap.com/parts_ncats.htm. The xforce one is just as good flowing apparently (metalic) and about $300 on ebay. www.catco.com.au has some comparisons. I think the benefit of these 2 cats is that they provide close to 0 restriction on a 3" pipe where the metal cat is about 10%. When it comes to performance sometimes it's worth paying a little extra

How come you have decided not to change your exhaust system???

Because I didn't want just another modded car that makes a heap of noise, like a vl or skyline etc was one reason (I love the stock appearance personally), another was I've got more power than I really need and the driveline/rods are going to struggle with much more.

If I change the exhaust, why not change the rods? Then why not a bigger turbo? rebuilt gearbox? cams etc etc. Where does it all end, so I've drawn the line. I plan to fit a cat when the stock one fails, or let it "evaporate" as I wouldn't mind a little more from 4-6000rpm

I like the way you think.

SO do you have a BA or BF? I would prefer to leave the CAT unchanged if I can get similar figures to you..

I didn't think just changing the cat would make much of a difference when it came to the sound of the car keeping in mind you still have both mufflers to baffle the noise.

The only difference in looks would be if you got right under the car & looked at the cat.

Mine's a Dec 03 BA mk I sequential, you can see the mods in my sig, add valve springs and you'd have an even higher top end number (it has a great low to mid range, as good as most 330 odd rwkw cars). Nizpro get 330rwkw+ with their stage 2 cobra kit which uses the stock cat so it's not unheard of. Obviously a gutted cat would perform better but it's illegal, depends how important an extra 20 - 30rwkw's is to the owner I guess, personally I'm happy with my power atm, maybe when I go to trade it in and realise how much it has depreciated I'll spend a bit more on it
