... run away.

This is a fine example of the type of 2nd hand XR6T (any car in fact) that you do not want to associate with.

a pool car not owned by anyone in particular

a chase car

modified by a 2nd owner...

Regards,

aa

Have to agree with aiboart here, find a good stock 2nd hand one. I had a look at some SA XR6T and XR8s at an aution yard in Perth last week.

The ex police ones are easy to spot, 90% of them had body work done (white is hard to match), they all had marks on the roof above the b post and damage to the rubbers where the blue n red lights are mounted and they all had windscreens replaced (badly fitting too).

Police cars are really well looked after in the shop, so the full service history would be genuine.

Not to say that you wont find an ex police gem, in fact the Xr8 was really clean( have to say I was tempted), but these cars arent exactly in short supply.

Ive spent nearly 6 weeks looking and just picked up a 03 Phanton, Premium sound, Rev Sensors, sunroof, tow pack, 70K, full history and 4 new tyres on it from a private Perth sale, $22,750.

If you can find a stock, well looked after one with good KMs in a private sale and get a aftermarket warranty on it, youll be $$ ahead of something of the yard that has been well detailed, but by the sound of it has had a pretty hard life.

Be patient, youll get yours !

Did you know that the police xr6 turbo's are run on standard unleaded fuel ( in my local area command but probably all over the state) as the department is too stingy to approve the extra cost of premium fuel!

That they often go into limp mode during periods of distress (due to the fuel?) and are disliked by many officers.

I don't think I would wish to own such a vehicle.

Actually Ford, being the maufacturer of the vehicles, claim they run fine on 91 and the department is only following there set standards.

I'd be avoiding it only because of what the 2nd owner has to done with it. Ex-police cars are generally a very good buy, with low K's and an excellent and strict service history by Ford and usually at a reasonable price. Try the auctions over the dealers.

What did they say about the diff whine? Is it coming with any sort of reliable warranty?

If you are keen on it I would be getting a mechanic to do a report on it, and then tell the sales man what you want fixed first if you buy it.

Mate I would suggest Government Auction.

Also do a rta check on the cars past. You just need the rego no. and last 4 digits of the vin.

Never Never Never buy a car that has been registered in a different state, reason being you can't trace the history. Unless of course the guy selling it is the original owner.

PM me if you need more info.
