On the dyno days I've attended theres always been a couple of cars that have had their runs aborted due to AFR's showing up dangerously high.

:stupid:

Mine got aborted on the nizpro dyno day for that reason with a generic tune :spoton:

Don't bother with the octaine booster, just get your fuel filter changed. That would be my main concern.

If you can't change it then go to a ford dealer and get it done. Centre Ford are open till 12 tonight.

good luck at the dyno day. :beerchug:

mate get some toluene and add 20% to your bp98ron, nomore noless and youll have about 102.4 ron with a higher energy content aswell. best octane booster you can buy IMHO...

if you havnt had your car checked previously on this generic tune, then do it asap, dont risk it, try to talk them into doing for you and pay a bit extra if need be...

I'll definitely have talk to Terry/Barry on the day and see if I can get the AFR instead of torque.. even if it costs more.

and I'll phone centre ford soon and see if they can do it too.

Rang them up and they shut at 5:00ish during the week, and lunch time on Saturdays.

They were willing to do it to my car today, but it would have cost around $70 for them to do it, with me supplying the filter too!! $$$$$$$

So I spoke to Ford_Power this afternoon and he suggested giving the fittings a bit of a whack, since they are aluminium fittings they tend to oxidise and lock easily.

Mate, this is not a difficult decision. Look after your engine and change the filter. If it costs $70 then so be it. Motors cost a bundle more. If they don't do AFR's on the dyno day then don't bother. Summernats can do it in the heat of battle without a drama, so what their problem??

yeah I understand what your saying.

They just posted up the official "Pre-Shootout Vehicle Checklist" and one of the items listed under All Vehicles is to "Fit the AFR probe to the exhaust".

So if they dont do this, then they are breaching their rules, and I won't do the run I guess. We'll see what happens tomorrow eh.

Do you sand gropers get BOOST 98? It has an octane rating of more than 100, as confirmed by tests, but for govt reasons, it is only marketed at 98.

Anyways, this is goos fuel and makes a noticble difference to my car when I am using it. And it's almost 10 cents a litre cheaper than SOOTIMAX annd the other 2 BIG ones.

nope, never heard of boost 98? who sells it? we dont get vpower100 up here either...

I REALLY wanna mix up some of my own race fuel... im thinking somthing along the lines of

50% preferably BP100, else BP98.

47% toluene or xylene.

3% nitromethane.

that should give me about 110ron with a slight dose of oxygen that's lead free, CAT and 02 sensor safe and cost about half as much as proper race fuel off the shelf. id love to know what they put in these andra approved race fuels but im fairly certain that its very close to what ive mentioned above...
