We were in a similar boat about two months ago.

We ordered a new VW golf (2.0 TDI Sportline) on the 28th of April ($1000 deposit please) and in May they offered drive away pricing, could've saved $2000.

We complained and they said it only applied to cars in stock and not ones that had to be ordered. Spewin. (It was due here in the first week of July)

About the first couple of weeks in June they released a new model called the GT which we found out later was replacing the Sportline. The GT is initially released with a 1.4 twin charged engine with the diesel due in October.

Had we known this we would've waited and got the 1.4.

Initially they said bad luck, but after the missus gave it to them we eventually got our deposit back.

I think it was quite rude that they were prepared to sell us a superceded car for a premium price, while all the time knowing a new model comes out in July.

As for your chances it's worth a shot, even just to let them know how pee'd off you are.

In most cases they're only after sales for the month and if they tell you a change is in coming, they look at it as a lost sale. They don't like you walking away.

All the best with it

What makes you think the dealers actually know what's coming out? It's usually a case of us knowing more than the dealers do until the revised models are actually on their showroom floor.

I'm in the same boat I picked mine up on the 29th of June (2 days before the upgrade came into force)

Have you got any information on this that I can use with my dealer? My order for my turbo was dated 25/07/07 and I have paid $1000 for the premo sound! Also, apparently they were doing the 18" rims for free like the pack they are doing with the XR6 n/a.

Would appreciate some help with this so I can hit them up before my car leaves melbourne in the next few days for delivery!

Cheers,

Michael

Hey Greeny:

You made the RIGHT decision.

Get the Oettinger re-flash and you'll be quicker than a GT and as good as a GTI on 5l/100km - fate dealt you a good hand.

Can't hurt to ask.

When we bought our BA1, the BA2's were just hitting the showroom floor.

Buying an auto though, there wasn't any real incentive to pay over $3000 more for the minor changes.

A few days before we were due to take delivery, Ford started offering free 5year warranty on remaining 2004 stock. Asked the dealer if that would apply to our Falcon - he said no, then more or less ripped up the contract and wrote up a new one with the current date so that it would apply.

I know it's not the same as replacing hardware, but still worth a few hundred dollars for nada.

Sorry I didn't make myself clear, but what I meant by getting my deposit back was that we didn't end up getting the car.

My wife was very very upset (and me too) that it was superceded before we were to take delivery of it, as we kept on asking if a new model was coming out soon as the front of the GTi looks awesome and I (we) were concerned that a new model would have a similar look (same as Jetta and Passat with the grille going down through the bumper [and Audi]). As it turned out the GT does have this grille/bumper and makes the Sportline we'd ordered look outdated. We were looking at $42000 for an obsolete model, which we just couldn't hack. (could've bought another T)

Once the missus turned on the teary eyed scenario they more or less understood and told us to go home, think about it and let them know what we wanted to do. She didn't even want to see the car once it was at the dealer. We felt as though we were duped into buying it, just to increase their sales in a "slow" month.

I would have been pee'd off even more if we'd picked it up and then found out a few weeks later that it was superceded as in

I WENT TO EDIT MY ABOVE POST AND IT WOULDN'T LET ME.

THAT'S WHY IT IS INCOMPLETE

THIS IS WHAT I WAS GOING TO PUT UP INSTEAD OF THE ABOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry I didn't make myself clear, but what I meant by getting my deposit back was that we didn't end up getting the car.

Onto the topic,

When we bought our new 5 speed T in August 04, the 6 speed BA mkII came out around 6 weeks later. At the time I wasn't concerned as I hadn't found brilliant forums like this one and wasn't aware of the potential of these things, but with the bug beginning to bite (and warranty finishing in a couple of weeks) forking out $6350 for a Mal Wood T56 is making the few grand I saved when we bought it, look obsolete.

I think the best Turbo777 can do is to harass them and ask for what you want, maybe ask them for a few freebies, services etc. The more you hassle them the better your chances (and the better you'll feel), they'll just want to see the back of you eventually and they may just cave in.

Who knows???

I'm pissed off and my car is a year old.

I wanted the climate control, was willing to pay, but hated the 'Sports' leather seats I had to get with it. Ford told me there was no way I could have one unless I got the crappy, part leather seats.

Now it's standard and free. Funny thing is, when I spoke to Ford, I said that no doubt, once the VE is out and kicking your butt in sales, the climate control and bigger wheels will be standard. Maybe it's my fault, they probably wrote it down and though it was a good idea. Bastards, I want some commission for the idea. :bangcomputer:

I think that some of you are getting pretty precious here.

You must have made a decision to part with a shedful of coin based upon the fact that you wanted what was on offer at the time.

THe dealer then pfesents with what you had agreed to purchase and suddenly it's not good enough?!

You are the ones that are changing your mind as to whether or not what was delivered is according to your tastes and you have the audacity to point the bone at the dealerships.

Get real, dry your eyes and deal with it.
