I think the thing is dingah, is that the dealers quite often know about these deals in the future, yet dont tell you about them so they can get the extra sale in for that month. I can understand how it works from their side, but I would also feel very ripped off if I took delivery of the car and then 2 weeks later there were the same car but with a ton of free options driving out of the dealer for the same money I paid.

As I said in my other thread on this, I am pretty happy, because my car has been built to the post 01/07/07 spec with the free climate control and 18" rims. I am also paying the pre 01/07/07 runout price based on a car without these extras, so I am winning here.

I do however, feel for the people that picked up their cars and then have found out had they waited a couple of weeks, could have had the freebies!

I think that some of you are getting pretty precious here.

You must have made a decision to part with a shedful of coin based upon the fact that you wanted what was on offer at the time.

THe dealer then pfesents with what you had agreed to purchase and suddenly it's not good enough?!

You are the ones that are changing your mind as to whether or not what was delivered is according to your tastes and you have the audacity to point the bone at the dealerships.

Get real, dry your eyes and deal with it.

Come on guys, some of you sound like cry babies.

All manufacturers upgrade their vehicles all the time from model to model, you just can't keep up with the changes.

Just look at the changes from BA to BF.

If your contemplating a new vehicle soon wait for the new falcon and buy a BF when they have a run out sale.

Also when ever there's a completely new model they start to upgrade the features to even the basic models.

Im not a car dealer but that is deadsh*t comment and attitude to have, honestly welcome to commercial reality.

I am with Dingah on this one, you want a car, you like it, you buy it. Things change a few days later, tough luck.

The lesson here is to always study the market, and the specific brand/model, and ask the questions pertaining to near-future upgrades etc.

I bought a BF mk2 XR6T on 28th of june.

Had to trade in my 1999 BMW 318i

got a resonable deal which I am sure was because the new 18" Premium sound , climate control were coming..

but hey I got the deal I wanted. A mate has a new ES falcon with the dual climate and premium sound.

And I don't really care that much about either.

Sure it would be nice to have 18" instead of 17" wheels except when replacing tyres..

I was just glad I got the payout on my BMW and a little extra to bring the turbo price down..

If I paid cash and the price would be the same between the 2 I would be a little bit more annoyed.

Have you got any information on this that I can use with my dealer? My order for my turbo was dated 25/07/07 and I have paid $1000 for the premo sound! Also, apparently they were doing the 18" rims for free like the pack they are doing with the XR6 n/a.

Would appreciate some help with this so I can hit them up before my car leaves melbourne in the next few days for delivery!

If you do a search, on this site you'll find some stuff that was posted early July (from memory they were media releases from Ford detailing the changes to spec levels). I rang Ford in mid July about it and they simply were not interested.

You not really comparing apples to apples here.

A new car is probably the second most expensive item anyone will ever purchase. It should be an honest deal and the dealer should let you know what your options are at the time.

In our case the car was superceded before we were to pick it up. When we signed the deal it was current. The had an obligation to tell us that the car will be superceded when we were to get it, I'm sure most people would think twice about paying a non discounted price for it.

Most people would want the best they can get at the time, especially when it involves the sort of money a new car costs.

Everybody reacts to things in different ways, when your all Geed up for the new car only to find out it's not the best you can possibly get you get dissapointed and will try to find a way get a better deal

I would bet my money on the salesman actually NOT knowing what deals where in the pipeline.

Also keep in mind that allot of these specials come out of the dealers profit margin, so even though it's marketed as "free" the dealer has to pay for it, which in turn means less discount for you.

Case in point was the magnet and rip curl packs on the utes, these were both marketed as free extras but the dealers actually had to pay for them which ultimately means you pay for them through nil or minimal $’s off the deal.

So although the "freebies" came out after your sale, it doesn’t necessarily mean you would have got the vehicle with the extras at the same price.

Perhaps I should start up a thread complaining that they're putting F6 motors into XR6Ts now eh? Perhaps I should demand Ford supply me with some FPV 19s at no cost, as is fitted to the BFII F6?

Hey, why dont I roll up in my I6 powered Ford in 2-3 years time, and demand that Ford install a twin turbo V6, as some are suggesting will eventuate?

(The fact that I effectively got my big Brembos, leather, FPV wheel and LCT/delivery for free is neither here nor there ).
