Good to see the govt finally doing something with the welfare system as well I.e. quarantining welfare payments if the money is being misused. Posted 02/08/07 06:00 AM Share Posted 02/08/07 06:00 AM Don't quite agree about the urine testing, I suggest the following; The whole point of the dole is a safety net to allow people to get back on their feet / find useful employment,It should be given 90% food, transport and rent tokens. if you want discretion on how you spend your F'n income, then F'n earn it!If you find tokens degrading, then get a F'n job.If you can hold down a job and get drunk/ stoned / whatever, fine by me,so long as you're not going to hurt anyone else. Posted 02/08/07 10:53 AM Share Posted 02/08/07 10:53 AM (edited) I still think u should let junkies be junkies.. soon enough.. they will forget to measure their "dose" and bye bye junkieWe'd just need to make sure they do it in a part of the country which no one wants to go to (out of sight out of mind). For the rest of society on the dole I think it we should go one step better, tokens can be swapped easily, they are as good as money. Having the government control your income period is the way dole should be. We need the safety net. It should be there for everyone period (otherwise crime rates will go up, and your tax saving will go directly to your friendly local insurance company) but it should be the government buys the food and pays the bills on your behalf.I personally think claiming the dole should give you the same restrictions as bankruptcy (only you get off the dole when your first pay cheque comes in, not 7 years later)Just my thought for the night Edited 02/08/07 10:53 AM by harvyk
