That's what Ian (originator of the thread) got.If the two upcoming tuning alternatives also dont require the customer to purchase a box, then that will only leave CAPA that has this requirement. Either way, these pcm's aint as dumb as LS1's pcms, and its not possible to brick them (sure if you blank them and dont get the first block written which contains the vin number, then any "VIN LOCKED" flash programmer will refuse to program it)But yes.. Sniper only tune, with no box.. close to $1000 in cost?Yes, it will leave Capa behind.... and 90% of the existing market that own the boxes.. All I'm saying is.. the problem workshops are faced with is having to carry each products software if they contain flash boxes as the form of programming.. Or your effectively loosing out on half the market..danny

I suppose it might be end up being that the workshops will need to keep their CAPA license to cover the market that have VIN locked edit boxes, and perhaps choose one of the alternative tuning options that doesnt require the customer to purchase a box (like Sniper), in order to accomodate the customers that want a drive in, drive out tune.I still think $1000 for a single tune is exxy, but that's only one example from one tuner. I think shops are generally charging $500-600 for a tune (and a couple variations like valet)? Something like that? At any rate, good on Ian for introducing us to Sniper and bringing out some good discussion (cheers Danny ) Edited 13/01/08 09:05 AM by Adam

Ian Member 56 Member For: 20y 4m 30d Gender: Male Location: Mackay Posted 23/12/07 11:44 AM Author Share Posted 23/12/07 11:44 AM I guess it was pricey considering I decided not to get the unit as well. It was surprising that dyno time (2 Hours) wasn't included in the custom tune price but confidence in who works on your car, for me anyway, makes up for any extra cost. Since this workshop do log book servicing as well helps, means not having to flash back to factory tune every time works needs to be done. Since I dont have a lot of free time, convenience of a one stop shop makes all the differenceIan
