That graphs got more lumps in it than the Himalayas......first one I've ever seen reverse on itself as well.... :puke:

Thanks for letting us know the price. :sleepystuff: pretty bloody reasonable.

$1000 for a tune does seem steep.

At any rate, (and not including current edit hardware discounts due CAPA sh*tting their pants), Sniper is impressive. More functionality, and for $1300, the end user can get the tuning software itself, including an interface box which holds up to 6 tunes (for different vehicles even). Dunno how much the box itself costs, but if the tuning software AND the box for the end-punter costs $1300, it cant be that much.

Its just a different (better) tuning tool, so the cost of tuning should be similar to Edit. The only thing that's going to save the CAPA tuning product now, is existing market share; the fact that most tuners already tune with Edit, and might be reluctant to switch.

Sniper pwns Edit.

Nice result. The graph looks a bit rough to me though.

Same old story. Get a tune and car needs injectors and valve springs. Get injectors and valve springs and a re-tune, then you fry the clutch. Get a better clutch and then you break the poor old T5. Get a stronger box and then you break CV's............. :spoton:

.........but I still want one haha :nono:

Congrulations on the power :spoton:

I must say though, thet the power curve is not very smooth, and even though there can be a number of reasons for that, the most likely is that the boost is not well controlled.

I had a similar looking curve when my car was first tuned, and I ended up having to change tuner to get this fixed, as the guys working on the car, were unable to prevent boost cycling, resulting in a 'peak and valley' type power graph.

How is it a better tuning tool, have you seen both of them to compare them?

I want to kow what extra features this new software has over the capa software.

Well I suppose it depends on whether you define access to much larger calibration definitions as 'better' for a start. Also, programming of the box, as well as the PCM takes no more than ~40secs, not the 'minutes' with the CAPA kit.

Have a read:

Ask M6_XR6T, he's certainly seen both first hand, and tips his hat to Sniper.

CAPA software costs what, $2600? CAPA box costs (now) $595?

Sniper software AND box costs $1300 for single user, for a box that's not VIN locked, and holds six tunes. Box by itself, would be significantly less.

Oh well, I wont get into that, but his sentiments echoed other reports I'd heard, so...

At any rate, I phoned BPT of and picked their brains for my own curiosity. I recommend anyone with similar quieries do the same, until we get reports from independent workshops.

Either way its all good, I wont be tuning anything. Now where's VCM at? :surrenderwave:
