Hmmm the driver was 38, I have already heard on three different forms of media that there needs to be a national crack down on "young male's street racing".

Just another ball for the media to spin and run with in the direction they want to take it.

I heard on the radio news (is it any more believable than TV or papers?) that he was dressed in HRT "uniform" and that he has had his licence disqualified three times for "drink driving". If it's true the fukker needs hanging! Imagine what damage will be done to the gene pool if he procreates. Not that it's likely to happen voluntarily, but he may just rape someone.

I saw the photo of him getting into the ambulance... he had a HRT jacket on or something like that. Couldnt see his pants, but im guessing he didnt have on HRT pants too.

Read this news story and count the number of times the cars were FLYING

"TWO cars allegedly involved in an illegal street race in which an elderly couple died after a collision were going so fast they were "flying", a court was told today."

that's not the media blowing it out of proportion, that's just witness statements. In my line of work, defence lawyers and prosecutors always tend to emphasise points of statements that give more weight to whomever side they are dealing with. In this case the Prosecutor would have emphasised that on three occasions, from three seperate witnesses, that they all said the cars "appeared to be flying". I don't agree with it but when incidents involve death of innocents, they (the media) appeal to our outrage and allow us to blow it out of proportion.

I think in this case due to his history, the Magistrate has done the right thing by refusing bail. I've seen on too many occasions drivers being allowed, due to the loophole within the legal system, to get back into vehicles before being sentenced. At least this Magistrate for once has his head screwed on correctly and is not up in the clouds.
