Unlikely that you would get it in the exhaust side tho. My turbo was the same color as this when i pulled me engine down. I don't think its unusual as they run at some pretty high temps. I thought these engines had multiple knock sensors that would retard the ignition in order to keep the engine safe.unless the tuner turned the sensors off. which I dont think he did Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The knock sensors(s) are on the lhs of the engine down under the inlet manifold. The are round with a bolt directly in the centre of them. Damaged wiring on th cam phasing posi sensor is pretty common. Ps...luurrve the "shackle" on the rear engine lifting eye.
