where is the need for these new cameras and the like?

the people who die in cars in the ACT usually die at 3am from grog, sleepyness or speeding way too much in suburban areas.

farking money raising methods of the ACT govt!

Speed and redlight camera technilogy is advancing rapidliy, due to the large investments made by governemnts around the world. Red light cameras in NSW and ACT are the same brand, and now going on 15 years old. Most here in NSW no longer work, as they have broken down and repairing them becomes more difficult.

As in S.A. I think it is, the future is the tecnology mentioned in the first post, but with these dual capabilities. NSW RTA currently seeking the governements authority to install these new type of cameras.

Regardless, very soon we all screwed.

There is also a new camera on a post just before you hit the round about coming into Canberra on the Federal highway.

This has only been erected in the last week, and is hidden behind a "North Canberra" sign, right after the road speed changes from 100 to 80, where the ripple lines run across the road.

It looks to be facing off the side of the road, presumably its not operational, but better to be safe than sorry.
