GF got a call today from the real estate asking us to sign a new lease as were at the end of a 12mth lease, she advised them we'd rather not sign another 12mth lease as we may move before the end, he said I'll call you back after speaking to the owner who now wants to up the rent near 25%!!!! :w00t2: :w00t2: :msm: and at that price we could rent a newly built house with all mod cons, this rental is pretty basic over priced already no dishwasher/aircon/heating hasn't even go insulation in the friggin roof. Not happy Jan.

Did some research an looks like they can do it with 30day written notice feccck just needed to vent some frustration anyone else in the same boat?

Have you tried making a counter offer? What's your rent amount at the moment? We are paying 300/w (two weeks in advance) which went up from 290 after 6 months. They know we are good tennants so they are looking after us. Maybe get on the phone and tell them you will pay $10 more but no higher??

if you bought that house for $340K at 100% finance.. I recogn your mortgage payments would be less or no more then the $550 a week rent you mentioned.

If your up for it I'd be giving it back to the Landlord in spades.

I'm a current Landlord and ex property manager and I can tell you it's easy for a tenant to shaft a Landlord if they don't do things in the right manner..................................the Bastards we are :stupid:
