They tried to keep it secret. Big thanks to the insider who spilled the beans to GoAuto, at least we have 3 years to prepare for the inevidable. Its the death of an icon. Falcon and straight 6 go hand in hand. V6's suck. Say goodbuy to all that lovely low down torque and effortless grunt that made Falcons such great cars to drive. Sure it gives us time to prepare for the future but instead of it being quick and painless it will be slow and painful. 3 years is a long time to have this hanging over your head. And because some of us will be getting a decent payout figure it isn't worth it to leave right now as you will lose all the cash, so you just have to ride it out for the big payout. It doesn't help that the company tells us nothing. We find out more from the local paper than from them. Is there any way you 6 cylinder builders can get into the V8 plant? If I have the money I would buy this plant, and build big hp motors If alot of people kept hammering ford about this they might consider about building/assembling the 6 here. After all people (us, and ofcourse other people) have to buy the cars for them to make money. The normal average driver wont care but there are alot that do. I just feel like theres somthing that can be done. There was this show on discorvery channel about building the new corvette. Forget about the brand for a second but they actually wanted to know what the public wanted not whats good for them. Ofcourse this car is not aimed at the genral public as a genreal run around car, but they actually listen to the buyers tried to build what they wanted. I dont know what to think about for the future. For me it might suck because I always have supported ford, passed on from my dad and his dad, but its hard to support a brand if you dont like the cars.Mabey after a couple of years people will start getting big hp out of these engines and it will become the norm like it is today, but atm I love everything about the T and the motor is a big part of it.What ever you do Ford keep us perfomance guys happy or you will killed off alot of your supporters.BTWTheres this bloke at my work and he loves the XE to XF shape. He knows everthing about them. that's the modle he is a absolute guru on. (stuck in the past)I wonder if this will this be me in the future about the BA-BF shape? I Hope its not the last falcon that I will ever like. Edited 31/07/07 01:47 PM by Wright'y

The current engine has a flat torque curve which makes it such a good engine. I suppose we will have to wait and see.

Hopefully Ford use the 3.7 variant and the engine will rev to 7000 + rpm. I feel pretty confident with the right turbo setup and hopefully edit tuning, wack some 4.11 diff ratio's for the extra rpm we might have an more potent weapon with even better times on the I/4 mile than we see now. What's your thought's

Is it just me, but do we all really think they will twin turbo a V6. With so much downsizing and the changes in the market on large family sedans just makes me think this all rumor.I think the motor has huge potential and doesnt worry me in the slightest that it will replace the I6 after so many years.
