I cannot see them changing the motor 1/2 through Orion. My bet is this "might" happen on the series after orion.

go the Taurus SHO V6! My mate did his trade with Ford in the US and used to tell me how well these cars used to go for what they are. Heads and intake done by Yamaha from memory. Ive driven a few Taurus in Australia and they rev very freely

And this from the SMH

Ford may axe local big six

Leo Shanahan and Jane Holroyd

July 13, 2007

UNDER a plan that could threaten up to 600 jobs and end 81 years of Ford engine manufacturing in Australia, Ford is considering whether to cease making the Falcon six-cylinder engine.

The company is considering a scheme to import V6 engines that would enable its six-cylinder engines to comply with the new Euro IV exhaust emissions laws to be introduced over the next three years.

Under Australian law, the Euro IV emissions exhaust standard will be compulsory for all new cars under 3.5 tonnes by 2010 and for all new model designs by 2008.

The Ford Australia proposal, reported by the automotive news website GoAuto.com.au, would end 50 years of manufacturing the six-cylinder Falcon engine at Ford's Geelong plant, which opened in 1926.

Asked about the possibility of importing the V6 engines, a Ford spokeswoman, Sinead McAlary, would not confirm the details but said the company was considering alternatives.

"We are looking at a range of different alternatives across a number of different areas of our business to ensure we can remain competitive in terms of features and technology we offer and pricing into the future.

"I cannot confirm at this stage the details of those studies. Nothing has been decided at this point.

"We informed our workers earlier in the week that we were studying a range of alternatives across the business."

It is understood that another plan being canvassed is to import parts for a Euro IV-compliant engine and to build it in Australia. But this would cost more than importing the V6 engine whole.

Last year the Falcon recorded its lowest annual sales in 40 years, dropping to number three in the list of Australia's most popular cars, behind the Expensive Daewoo Late model camira and Toyota Corolla.

I6 was always the most contrasting difference from a commodore. It just wont be the same. again. I dont tink I will keep producing the T version for that much longer.

I could'nt really give a sh8T about the engine. Ford had v6 engines in capri's and early 1960 model falcons. The part that concerns me the most will be the demise of rear wheel drive.

It is as sure as chickens hatch from eggs that any v6 engine package that ford release will be front wheel drive, like toyota and mazda.

when that happens so will my relationship with ford. :runaway:

My suggestion if you can afford it is to lock up an xr6turbo in a shed. They will be worth money one day.

If they make falcon into front wheel drive, you might as well just import some american cr@p straight from the USA.
