Steve

That cost is about right for a major service as it is a big one and no doubt they changed a few engine pulleys, belts etc etc. If your better half asked them to do the service then they go ahead regardless of cost but that's not for your spouse to know.

Ford parts are very expensive no arguement there and I haven't heard too many good things about them at Nuford as 1 of my mates gets his AU XR8 serviced there and he's not happy either so I've told him to go to Morley or Centre ford and he too lives close by Nuford.

Why did it go into limp mode? what was wrong.

I remember doing my EB XR8 in 94 and I got Titan ford to do the 60 thou service and that cost me around $800 way back then as they changed out all the belt pulleys etc etc so it doesn't take much to add up to a heap of coin.

Try and get your money back Steve no harm in trying mate

I think you will find alot of Ford dealers wont give a quote but they will give you an estimate. At least the two dealerships I have worked at have

That s correct they do give a quote, we always over quote. but with a job that big I wwill not start if they havent written a quote on the front, no qoute on the front of the repair order means that they havent told the customer how much. and at that stage we will ring the customer and verify the dollar figure

about to attempt to service mine in the next couple of weeks. plenty of tutorials (special thanks to zap for his) and I know what to check so we will see how it goes. cant handle paying another 300 for what is essentially an oil change.

I would do my own car if I had an enclosed garage, all the necessary tools and a spare few hours on the weekend (and of course a few coldies in the fridge), but the ~$140 I give to centre ford I think is reasonable for a scheduled service, and anything over and above this requires my approval. I did my own brake flush the other week, pretty easy to do. I will probably do my own gearbox oil flush one day... since it's been so good to me (touch wood)

I just want everyone on this forum, especially WA members, know about an experience with this AHG Ford dealer.

My partner has a 2001 Ford HE Mondeo 2L. It was due for a service and has done over 100000km. The other night it went into Limp Mode (speed limited to 60km/h and wouldn't change gear), so to avoid the hassle of driving to the city where I normally get my car serviced, we booked it in at Nuford Wangara which is all of 2km away. They said they would have a look and let us know what needed to be done.

Lisa gets a phone call today, with a quote for over $1000. They had already completed their "Major Service" which was $760 alone :nerd8: So instead of actually letting us know what it would cost before completing the work, they had already set to charge us for all that!

Going through the list there were things like "pollen filter - $78, spark plugs - $110 (which I had replaced 6 months ago :w00t2: ), air filter (which I also replaced 6 months ago) $80 odd, gearbox oil change.............. the list goes on.

I want to know what right a service department has to carry out this work without first a quote of the cost of what they will be doing, and secondly consent of the owner to complete it!!?

Basically, I want to tell everyone to never go to Nuford for service, and for you all to tell everyone you know never to go there either unless they hate money! Talk about extortion!

If all those items that were replaced are listed as part of the major service then they really arent in the wrong. If they have replaced items that have not been listed then I would not be paying for :pooh::pooh: In saying that though if they were a trust worthy mechanic then they would have not changed any of the items that you have just recently changed yourself. I would not be going back there.
