aiboart Member 665 Member For: 19y 10m 5d Posted 09/07/07 08:38 AM Share Posted 09/07/07 08:38 AM A supercharged Falcon I6 engine with the same top end as an F6 will provide less bottom end than the turbocharged F6 engine - not more. That is in fact the point of the XR6/F6/TT turbo installation.A supercharger's boost is more or less a linear function of engine RPM. Low engine RPM = low boost = low power. Turbo boost does not have a simple relationship with (main) engine RPM. Variable geometry turbos introduce yet another variable into this relationship. The twin charged VW is an exercise in pointless complexity (and weight) the bottom end torque could have been more elegantly boosted by the simple expedient of increasing the main engine size or by using a variable geometry turbo.
