fuel economy is alll in the tune. You can still drive carefully and get crap economy. I've driven around in my wifes BA n/a with a wideband up the bum and the leanest it would go on cruise was 14:1 and everywhere else was rich. On other cars I've checked you can imediately tell when it goes into lean cruise at 16+:1 once you back off on the accelerator and these car give brilliant economy.

Most workshops dont have a load based dyno so most cant really help with economy tunes (and even for that matter power tunes).

I found a handy little ratio to fuel consumption in the T.

Increased/high consumption is directly proportionate to the distance between the floor and accelerator pedal. :spoton:

:bopp:

Poor economy = :bopp:

Might help if you guys can post your average speed that your car displays and the kms you are getting out of a tank. Not all city driving is the same

average speed for me is 31km and I am seeing about 380km out of a tank at the most, most times 340km

Exactly, youll find that the lower the average speed the lower the km's youll get out of a tank..I average around 35kmh and around 380-400kms..

Obviously a big factor to look at too is what petrol your buying.

Cheaper full gets you less but more expensive gets you further, You work it out. ROFL

I have never heard of anyone wanting to get a custom tune to save money on fuel. Does anyone here run an economy tune everyday? Has anyone even got an economy tune in one of their slots?

It only lends to itself that if you do get a custom tune that you will sometimes want to "try out the new power". In so doing, the long term average fuel consumtion will be the same but only now, you've parted with a 1000 bucks. Not to mention that you are now paying an extra 7-10cpl for premium fuel.

More power = more fuel = more cost.

I would be looking at other options if fuel economy is your only concern. Increase power has obviously been a bi-product for some guys which is fantastic but are you willing to part with a 1000 bucks to (hopefully) fix your problem. Every car is different.

Cheers

That is not entirely correct.

When I had a Edit with custom tune, I got between 2-4lt/100km better economy over the tank.

While the car would use more fuel when booting it, overall it was noticably better with economy.

Economy does not = slow in our cars.

Economy = properly tuned
