I drove it 1800klms home from the Gold Coast to Cairns. Its completely stock except for K & N air filter. Running 5psi of boost... I had noticed when I first jumped in, that it had a slight stutter at idle, in P or D. I gave it a full service today, oil, oil filter, fuel filter, cleaned the TB, sprayed lube into the boost actuator solenoid, cleaned and re-oiled the K & N panel filter, fixed minor oil leak from autometer oil pressure sender. It actually ran like sh*t yesterday when I started it, it was idling fine then I put in reverse and was coughing and carrying on, so I shut it off and re-started it and all was good again...?The idle is at 800rpm and it does wander a little bit below that. But it just has this slight roughness to the idle, to the point where u can feel the entire car getting a slight shake...? Ive read in a few places that others have this same sort of fault. Is it normal? Is there actually a fix for it? Any other things I can try? Or look for?

Wasnt looking for an improvement, just got one. Edited 01/07/07 12:29 PM by PepeLePew

Its a very slight miss but you can feel the car rock a bit and can hear it if you listen to the exhaust. Otherwise no ther symptoms - no miss under load.I'm taking mine in for warrranty work this week so will let you know if they diagnose it.

I have fitted an Auto Meter Air/Fuel ratio guage and when the car is running in closed loop ( about 10 sec after cold start up and continuously thereafter ). Just if you dont know closed loop means the ECU is constantly trimming the amount of fuel entering the engine via the injectors and oxygen sensor. It reads like this, lean, rich, lean, rich, lean and so on all the time. I noticed that when my guage flicked down to lean the idle speed dropped about 20 or 30 rpm and then when it went back up to rich the idle speed when back up to where it started. So I believe it is just caused by the lean idle mixtures FORD have programmed in for good emissions and economy. Maybe if you get a flash tune one day they can program in a slightly richer idle and it might fix it. Anyway that's my theory.

Appears a few people have had luck with a an ECU flash update. Mine is 10/2003, so not sure what version its running? Thinking bout booking it into Fraud and get them to have a sus. Its only a very minor roughness.. beginning to think it may be normal? But then I used to have a vt Late model camira so anything feels minor compared to that ! Im thinking if alot of the cars have the same thing it might just be normal and not a problem.I could be wrongbut my car does not underperform and does not miss at anytime under load and full throttle. groper Member 611 Member For: 17y 11m 7d Posted 20/08/07 06:53 AM Share Posted 20/08/07 06:53 AM if it did it after you oiled your air filter that's normal as some of the solvents etc are still coming out... after one decent drive though that should be gone. apart from that, most cars have very slight hiccups now and then but if its bad or happens all the time it can be a number of things, like manifold leak, poor o2 sensor, TB, TPS, fuel pressure, foul injectors, plugs and coils etc etc... happy hunting
