I've looked backwards and forwards through the manual and there isn't anything other then the usual To obtain the best all round performance for this vehicle it is recomended not to exceed 4000rpm (Yeah right!)Can anyone help me out here? I'm guessing around the 6K mark, but it'd be nice to know. Also does it have a soft cut or hard cut revlimiter?rev limiter varies from about 5800 and 6200 rpm depending on conditions and, therefore, there's no redline marked on the tacho.Gary Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/36222-err-maybe-a-dumb-question/page/2/#findComment-550319 Share on other sites

Yeah that's good for it - thanks Ford Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/36222-err-maybe-a-dumb-question/page/2/#findComment-550468 Share on other sites

But after owning one now I know this is not the case It might have been in a BMW or Ferrari on one of those topgear shows im thinking of .. Read my post again but pay attention to the words 'lit up' and you'll see that I meant a red light on the tacho which shifts to a higher RPM as the engine gets warmer Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/36222-err-maybe-a-dumb-question/page/2/#findComment-550568 Share on other sites

Andrew50 Member 75 Member For: 20y 3m 30d Posted 02/07/07 05:09 PM Share Posted 02/07/07 05:09 PM Rev limiter cuts in @ 5800 and compared to the opposition's unit is comparatively soft, if at the time you have your forehead glued to the screen in the "go fast" position you will probably get a mild bruise. It is not a "variable" limit, the ECU does not decide that you need a couple of extra hundred revs because the SS next to you is edging away!! There is no red line on the tacho so that Ford can save a few bucks with a generic tacho accross the XR range, your rev limiter is your red line. The autos don't allow you to rev past a couple of grand unless in drive - ECU protection, don't know about the manuals.
