I've just had my third door lock actuator F@ck itself (first two under warranty) and my fraud dealer wants $180 for a replacement. You can forget about getting one from the wreckers 'cause it's been a design fault since the AU. One local wrecker said they have been looking into getting one designed and maufactured they were in such big demand. :spoton:

Anyone know an alternative fix or short term remedy such as being able to lock the door from the inside etc.?. Just need to secure the car for a day or so before I fit a new one. The tie down between the grab and door handle is only so affective :wackit:

Drivers door I assume?

If so, why not just use the key, and lock the other doors with the remote :spoton:

Probably missing the point here, but I tried :wackit:

I guess I should have clarified it as being the passengers side rear.

But hey thanks for having such a low opinion of my interlect Al:spoton:

Just because I hang out here sometimes doesn't make me a complete f%kwit :bum: (Like some - Refer previous post) :spoton:

Just a minor one :w00t2:

Hi Steve - Type in "actuator central locking"in the search function on the AU forum at

http://www.fordforums.com.au/forumdisplay.php?f=53

and you'll get plenty of hits and lots of advice, including playing with the wires in the BEM - lots of similarities between AU and BA in Body Electronics Module.

OK, OK, in that case, remove the door trim, lock the door manually on the lock itself, as the actuator is broken, it will not uinlock, and if you activate the child lock, it cannot be opened from the inside either.

Just make sure you only fix the trim by the clips, or leave it off all together, so that you can get the door opened, as this cannot otherwise open due to the faulty actuator.

Figured I'd put this here as its the most recent one I could find about door problems.

My xr6t sedan door locking is going mental as far as locking and unlocking itself, I thought it was just dur to the gears in the door actuators breaking but have replace them both but it still locks and unlocks numerous times when unlocking the car.

Also to this when I close the doors (have determined it doesn't matter which door either) sometimes it locks and unlocks multiple and also when pressing the window buttons and a couple of times when putting the key in.

I do have an aftermarket alarm and have the same on my other BA with no problems.

I assume there is a wiring problem here somewhere as if the actuators were faulty I would not expect the other means (window buttons, key in ignition) to set the locks off randomly?

Any help would be appreciated as the car is well out of warranty plus ford rapists suck ass at repairs and fault finding.

Cheers,

Brett
