OK, so I was going to use a Flash tuner to run my XR6-T conversion into my XF. But whilist my Auto sparky mate still thinks it could be done, we added up what we thought it was going to cost (loom, flash turner, tuning etc) it's going to be faster and cheaper to run an aftermarket ECU.

So which one to use? Yeh Motec is a great product, and will/does/has run the engine, as will Autronic. But what about the more financually friendly ones out there? I'm thinking along the lines of the WOLF V500 and the new Haltech E11v2? Anyone heard anything, or have had anything to do with either of these? Or have you seen, heard of anything else?

As far as I'm away these are the only 2 that can run the DOHC VCT in the BA's I6 engine.

Any suggestions?

Ive got a BA motor in an EA and Im actually using a new ECU made by the dynowog.

Its an XTC EMS.

Basically without using an autronic or motec you will have to run atomic verneir gears or do what I have had done. My cams are going to be switchable at a certain point rather than fully variable. The dynowog knows how to do this. Other ECU's might run the phasers but you wont have closed loop cam operation to tune them properly.

This means you can use nearly any ECU as long as it has more than 3 ignition and injector outputs.

Choose one with the features you like and that a local tuner is familiar with.

Another guy is using an EMS 8860 without touching the cams and he says it runs fine. He is on www.performanceforums.com and owns an XF.

This isn't a piggy back or anything? A true stand alone ECU?

Would like to know more! Best I talk to 'the' wog!

Haltech E11 will serve you well although it's typically used for high power applications.

Ems is similar although I'd recommend Haltech gear:

For the price of the haltech e11 the autronic would run the cams properly.

could u give a ball park figure for the XTC EMS and does it have logging ?

the options I have looked at r motec and autronic,

but have not seen many cars running these .

if some one is, we would appreiate your feed back .
