I am personally thinking of going down a slightly different path of cars.

Im thinking an escort as the parts available for them range as much as your budget does & the other thought was a Torana with an 8 in it & the biggest radiator available.

Both cars are reasonable in purchase price, parts are relatively easy to find.

BUT....... dont expect to use a drifter as your street car.

And about not using it as a street car is that due to it being in pieces every weeek etc?

Dont see why not, they use manaros/GTOs as drift cars and they are V8s.

Hey, just responding to the first, post. Sorry I didnt do an background check on how mature he was first. Next time I'll read all 106 posts of someone before answering their question.

As for it being on "public roads", I'm not a mind reader, and didnt know he was even planning to do it on public roads.

Drifting is becoming a popular "sport" there are even schools opening up. For all we know he could be the next Tsuchiya, or he could wrap himself around a pole and kill 4 of his mates the first day he has his p's.

Look at your budget for a start and keep saving your pocket money and doing more jobs for your parents. 5K wont get you much and is gonna cost you far more!. Sure you will pick up a sh*tta S13 etc BUT I'd put a weeks pay cheque on it that it wont be so cheap after a month or two ;)

At least you plan on taking it to the track but what happens when you start breaking stuff (beware, this WILL HAPPEN) or worse, crash the car. Insurance wont cover it (well for the few track days I've been to its always been a disclaimer) and parts and labour arent cheap. Not to mention fuel (BP98 isnt cheap these days (well not in perth anyway!!) and you go through a fair bit on track days), tyres, panel damage, brakes, rotors etc. Then you have to actually pay for the track hire (anywhere up to $150 for a day in perth for example).

If your serious about going sideways, you wouldnt be worrying about image either...
