Tyres have a lot to do with it as it is the point of traction and load on the drivetrain.

Put on a decent set of tyres and the first burnout will be the last. Do not think you have a great gearbox, because the T5 Sucks and WILL DIE with your power level.

I had a suzuki swift with 72 front wheel kw and broke 6 gearboxs in 12 months because it would axle tramp and thump into gears, I turbo'd it and running 182 front wheel kw and it would spin every gear except 4th and 5th and I had this setup for 2 years and only broke 1 box, the wheelspin was taking the pressure off the driveline but not the clutch (21 later)

If they are so good you can have mine out of my car as long as you fit up my T56.

But it must happen this weekend as I will be doing it myself.

it has only had close to 300 rwkw put through it for about 2 mths, I don't drop thee clutch anywhere but do wheel spin when boost hits 1st and 2nd with nice soft gear changes.

It is currently running Nizpro injectors, Nizpro Valve springs, X-Force system, capa flash custom tune and Excede clutch.

And when I say it's a super box I mean it sounds just like a v8 supercar box, screaming it's head off whinging.

Actually sounds like it is blown (Supercharged)

After all the searhing I have done I have found you can strengthen them by using dog gears but it still will cost like $4000 and will whine.

As for other options there is a lot of hassle and exspense in fitting the like's of say a TKO.

Your only option is to go T56 like me and alot of other people have done.

But you might as well wait till your box give's up as it is only worth scrap anyway.

And as eveyone on here has said once you do get traction and you have a clutch that holds your T5 will fail quickly as it will have to cope with all the load applied.

Have you heard a car on the dyno as the load is applied.

Listen to how hard the engine has to work and just think about how it is transferring that power.

The T5 is not engineered to handle the TORQUE your car will be making.

I would be very interested in hearing a little more about the dog gear's you have discovered. Do you have a link or company name ?

The cheapest T56 transmission I have found is $4400 from Suburban Imports in Sydney

ppg do straight cut gear sets, but I couldn't find anything for the t5z when I looked. a member, xr6ism, has them in his t5. he doesn't post here any more but you may be able to find him on the autotech forum.

beware with straight cut gearsets though, they are a consumable, and the dogs wear out over a short period of time in the life of a gearbox. NOT recommended for the street, as they are hard to drive, and I dare say that you will go through axles if you have a button clutch.

If it's new it's a steel, if's it's used still not bad as they are hard to get.

I was lucky as I got mine off Mal Woods as a reco'd blueprinted box for a good price due to being a member of the XR6 & XR8 club of QLD.

the car is running crow valve spring, high flow injectors, walbro fuel pump, hybrid intercooler, ss inductions growler kit etc. Clutch is extreme heavy duty and tyres are hard compound. That's why they don't stick so much all the time.

I'm not bragging, I'm just stating the fact that it's still working perfectly. And if it's the wheel spin, so be it.... I'm still enjoying it.

And finally.... If she blows, that's my problem, not anyone elses. So cheers to guys who are giving me good words. People saying ive jinxed myself don't relize that I don't 2 f*#ks if she blows. It's bound to happen... but just when is the question. Ive got an idea for those who want to be big shots.... put some money on it and start a betting forum to guess when it will blow

Good luck with the T5, I hope it hold together for you. But I would start saving for that T56 conversion.
