Hey

Im wanting to buy a el cheapo $300ish boost controller I got a few questions can I just up the boost with a stock ECU and no edit / tune or piggy back ECU due to low on cash and havent goten a edit yet, and im really wanting to save up for 3 piece wheels that is why im cheaping out plus the XR6T is quick enough but I wouldnt mind upping the boost a few PSI for some malala drift time once in a while

The second you try to up the boost the engine will go into limp-home mode. It has a very smart ecu and you will need Edit to fix it. You don't want to be manually upping the boost without changes to fuel and ignition anyway.

some of us with edit`s use a boost controller with the edit also.

I cruse around on 5 psi and at the push of a button I have access to higher levels.

you may find that with your econ tune in somone wants to race and u will loose, ricer boy aint going to wait 3 minutes while u reflash he will just go bragging to his mates...I chopped a xr6turbo.... :spoton:

But you still cannot up the boost with an ebc and not use Edit to change other parameters.

If you are running around at 5psi, your edit will still be tuned for whatever your max boost is causing it to run overly rich - unless you actually flash in another tune and you are then back to your above example anyway??

I just run around in mine with the full-house tune all the time. It only uses more fuel when you want it to - if that is your concern. Otherwise, I can't see the point of not having all she's got at any time. I actually do have an EBC with one setting only - the full one. :spoton:

I get your point but it seems ok, con said the tune was 3d so whatever boost it has adds fuel. :oops:

I may be wrong but I use it as power control, it gets hard to drive with so much power.

I also cant use my full tune as my clutch wont hold it, I have an option 3 going in real soon seems after 12 psi I get slippage.

I noticed theres a bit of stallage when accelrating at full when I went for a thrash round, but had only 30KM left it said so mite have been that,

Also im going to get the injectors cleaned the proper way taken out and in acid

new air filter I need cbf installing the HKS style due to less perfomance OK ok im scared the ECU will go into limp mode due to to much hot air / not enough air coming in

Geting a new fuel filter installed as well by mechanic, also is this a home job for the noob 16yr old? if so I will install a new one every 3K KM

Why would you put a new fuel filter in every 3000km, its a waste of time, just do it every 50,000km and you'll be fine...

dirty fuel will kill your engine really quick. My afr's on my std tune only went down to mid 13's at wot due to a dirty filter. 3K is overkill but leaving it to 50K is criminal!!
