Hello all

I want to build a fairly quick XF. I want to do it for $4000 (Ive been watching monster garage). There is a few choices to make and Im looking for advice.

Firstly Do I use a Blow through Carby or buy a haltec and use injection?

Is it worth getting an S model XF for the suspension?

If I make between 250 and 300RWKW in this XF do I need to beef the breaks up. Was there an XF that had better breaks?

how much power does the 4sp single rail handel or do I use a C4Auto?

Do you think I can get between 250 and 300RWKW for $4000. If so what parts list would you choose?

Also I want it built before next power cruise at eastern creek.

Im open for donations and sponsorship.

Hi Mate.

I'm not sure if im allowed to put up links to other websites or not, but the best place I've been to for turbo XD/XE and XF information is http://www.xfalcon.com

There's a stat writeoff xr6 t at the auctions next week with a nizpro kit fitted, decent wheels to. Would make for an excellent donar car, should go for around the 1ok mark. Keep the engine and trans then part out the rest and it'll owe you bugger all.

Are you serious or is this a gee up? :stirthepot:

I doubt very much that you could build a turbo XF for $4K, especially not one with 250-300rwkw.

For $4k you'd get more like 150 - 175rwkw. Takes a bit of work/money to get the old crossflow making good numbers :spoton:

I hear there's a ship in Newcastle that needs a new anchor, the XF crossfade donk might fit the bill :crybaby:

as said it will be hard to get the ol single cam 2fiddy to get over 200rwkw but in saying that the injection system on the xf can be moddod easily by cracking the seal on the air flow meter and screwdrivering the adjuster in the middle of the afm...

the computer as far as my experienxe works well with boost. we did a turbo xf ghia injected falcon in the late 90s that ran well.

we just plumbed it up and adjusted the afm and it ran good, no dyno figures though.

an xf fairmont ghia with an xr6turbo engine and box painted 2 tone silver grey and brown and simmons b45s polished outer gold center , dark tints and grey velour/furry esp trim. that's a classy ride right there.

iv seen xf fairmont ghias going for 2k. with injection.

No chance Mickey... I turboed my ED and spent 10k, and that wasnt even touching the motor itself. Wild ride though, makes my T feel like a volvo lol

Mmmmmm ok. so 4K is a bit un realistic. This is not a G up either. Maybe the 250 to 300kw was a bit unrealistic too. does an XR6T motor fit in there easily? What computer do I use if I go down this track? I heard that the Ford computer dosnt work if the ICC and all the other stuff from the BA isnt connected up. is this the truth? Is there a way around this??
