Open over flow cap3. reconnect lower radiator pipe fill overflow with water.4. start car and crank the heater.5. after a while turn engine off and disconnect lower radiator hose and drain coolant/water.6. repeat steps 3,4,5 one more time.7. add correct coolant to appropriate mix (im in bris so I'm assuming 33% glycol - would 50% be better)8. add water to system and crank heater. 9. let system idle for a while to circulate new coolant.I think this would work. I just want to get some of your opinions before I start.is coolant bad for paint? if so, will I need to remove plastic thingy under front bumper?thanks for your ideas. Unscrew drain plug in the bottom right corner of the radiator (on the airbox side at the bottom).2. Open over flow cap and let it all drain out3. screw drain plug back in and fill with distilled water.4. start car and crank the heater and top up the water level if it drops.5. after a while turn engine off and unplug the drain plug again and drain coolant/water (I let the engine cool down a bit first)6. repeat steps 3,4,5 one more time - but I always let the engine cool down before adding cold distilled water back into the radiator.7. add correct coolant to appropriate mix (I put about 40% in mine)8. add water to system and crank heater.9. let system idle for a while to circulate new coolant and top up as required. It might just be me being too fussy about it all, but im sure someone else will either confirm this or call me an idiot Either way you use distilled water with the coolant in the end, and it only costs an extra $4 or so to use distilled water for the flush too. Let it bleed a little while after the fan kicks in, (thermostat opens), to allow coolant to circulate in the whole system. Posted 20/06/07 05:22 AM Share Posted 20/06/07 05:22 AM U might be right, But it did it to be on the safe side anyway!I just opened the cap on the reservoir tank.I also started the car, ran it at about 2000rpm for 10 minutes for coolant to supply throughout the system and to purge air from the system. So that's all we have to do I think. Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/35902-coolant-system-flush/#findComment-546322 Share on other sites
