Driving at a ridiulously low speed on the freeways would be considered negligent driving. And for those who like jumping on the brakes when being tailgated, is menacing driving, which has a far greater penalty than tailgating.

Tailgating pisses me off something shocking.

I find nothing worse when I'm doing 7 or 8 k's above the limit with some moroon sitting 2 metres behind on a country road at 6am,roos everywhere, plenty of places to pass and they don't.

sh*ts me to no end, that's when I apply the "well you want to do 90 now asshole"go slow tactic.

Finally they get the hint and pass, and off they go only to find 30 seconds down the road I am slowly gaining on them.WTF is wrong with these people.

I was following the Mrs home one day.She gets very nervous whenever someone sits to close behind her.

There was a car between us and this c#ckhead thought it would be good to sit about a metre behind her,I couldn't beleive how close the idiot was,I thought I would see how he liked it and I sat up his ass and what do you know,he didn't like it one bit.He spent the next couple of minutes waveing his arms around, looking around and giving me the finger, screaming his f*cking head off and forgot all about tailgating the Mrs.I just sat there and laughed myself silly.

Another thing the sh*ts me is someone doing 90 in a 100,you get to the overtaking lane and have to do 130 to pass them. Can't understand the mentallity of some drivers..amazing

Oh well,enough said...

And well said.

I am astounded at the amount of people on here that think tailgaiting is OK. I have been in exactly the same situation as you with a tailgaiter sitting behind my wife and kids. As usual with these bullies, he completely went to water when I followed him into a servo and let him know whats what. Utter tools, and as with most of the problems on the roads, another uninforced road rule.

I think theres a lot of 'very young' XR6 owners on this site, dare I say that there the majority of this problem.

Will be good when restrictions are brought in on young people driving high powered vehicles.

We just bought a unit in a complex here on the gold coast, and there was some retard last night at around 3:30 - 4am doing burnouts through the complex woke the whole place up, he blew a tyre, went back and got another one, and kept going again.

So I thought well F**k you mate, and I got up at 7am and went door knocking to find this f**kwit, I thought well he can wake me up in the middle of the bloody night I'll see how he likes it.

I managed to find his car, with no rubber left, and half the road stuck to each wheel, and I went bashing on his door, and again, and then started booting it "I know your in there" kind of thing, no answer (chickensh*t)

told all his neighbours, hopefully he'll grow the f*ck up, these are the kinds of people I find the worst.

Tailgating is not cool dickweeds, its a maturity indicator I believe.

I love being brought into the 'young hoons' group becuase of my age.

I dont even do burnouts on the public road, waste of good rubber if you ask me, yeah no sh*t these cars can do burnouts, but what's the point?

I'm glad W.A isnt bringing the high powered age restrictions, and if they do I'll be off my p's anyway by that time :w00t2:

Yeah I can understand you being pissed off mate, I mean what kinda dickhead would do burnouts in the middle of the night, with heaps of sleeping people around..

He could have at least done it in the middle of no-where? No-brainers ruin it for the rest of us.

I'm twenty one and havn't done a single burnout in my T, you probably shouldn't throw us all in the young hoon can't drive group. There are alot of young drivers out there that respect other road users and sleeping people for that matter. I've lost count of the 40+ year old w@nkers in there I'm such a tool HSV's and STI's that have gone screamin past me or trying to run me at the lights. It's not just young people, idiot's come in all ages.

Had a few words with this dumb cow today as she thought it was ok to drive in the right lane holding everyone up.

I took off from a set of lights behind her and 4 cars in the left lane past her till she reached speed limit.

She then proceeded to sit side by side with another do gooder doing 75 in a 80 zone.

So I steered right a little so she could see that I was wanting to pass her.

Nothing she still continued to sit in right lane.

I than proceded to tailgate (And no Iam not a young hoon) she then brake tests me.

Yeh ha so if she wants to play games I half already gap.

To chicken to do again you dump cow.

The next lights I pull along side and yell at her to learn her road rules and to stay left unless overtaking.

Her reply is you shouldn't speed.

Hell where does she work that one out considering I was wanting to do posted limit and wanted be able to select top gear before the first klm from leaving the lights.

0-80 in about 20 seconds not 2hrs.

I reply if I want to speed it is my choice and I will accept any fines I get in doing so, its not up to her, its up to the police.

And that I suppose you are one of those people that just sit in the right lane and don't even move to the left when a ambulance is trying to pass.

I Finished by keep left unless over taking you dumb cow.

I and a long line of traffic was stuck behind her for approximately 15klm and 3 sets of lights.

I think she must get off in the fact that she has control over you while she is doing it.

Lucky it wasn't male or I would of been up on road rage charge's.

As for you guys whinging about people tailgating why don't you just move to the left lane where you are suppose to be while not overtaking.

I don't seem to have any problem's with people tailgating me as I make sure Iam in the left lane unless Iam overtaking or turning right.

As someone said earilier it's not rocket science.

It's called respect and being curtious to others on the road.

You do not have the right to try and control other people, by making them sit behind you.

As for idiots that disturb the peace as per wesleyt story need to get flogged.

And this should not be aimed at all young people, and stated that it will be good when new rules come into play.

I have always had high powered cars from day 1.

I have always been a car mad, However I didn't do these things in places that would upset other people.

I did and still do drive fast and do the odd burnout.

It comes down to being sensible about it.

Not being drunk or on drugs.

Driving to your ability and cars ability.

I feel a secondary school driving and defensive driving program would help save young life's more than take the power away.

Young people in a low powered car can have or cause just as many accidents.

Making young people drive non v8 or turbo cars.

How does that work when some 4's and 6's are capable of higher speeds than some v8's and turbo cars.

Eg EF XR6 vs EF XR8

Old XC 351 falcon approx 19 sec 1/4

BA GLI 6 approx 18 sec 1/4

So if you have had a dream to own a old Ford V8 you arn't allowed but you are allowed to own a faster BA 6.

How are they going to police the young driving a low powered vehicle, hell I owned a 1971 VW beattle that was faster than some V8's.

Bottom line is it comes down to the best way the government can make money or save money or otherwise they would follow other countries that have less fatalities who have driver ed programs.

The courier mail about 2 weeks ago stated that defensive driving corse (DOT) does not count towards driver hours on learners.

How screwed is that, they should give bonus to people that pay to do these corses.

Did you think of calling the police? Seems to me that you're the one with the issues that need to be sorted. Not condoning this fools behaviour, but ffs get a grip mate. Retaliation may make you feel big and tough, but I'd predict you've just stirred him up and he'll probably now go and do something even more stupid just to piss you off.

The new laws won't do jack sh*t to control these young hoons that you have stereotypically mentioned, it is based on kw output and not power to weight ratio.

Yeah its my fault, how silly of me.

I mean the last time I called the police about hearing a gunshot outside our house, they didnt even turn up. So why would I bother, but I will be calling them anyways.

Gee im glad you pointed that one out, I would never had thought of it. :)
