Where all probably confusing you more, but the test drive and floggings of both cars is going to be essential to your decision making. Alot of ppl on here are converts from the traditional 8's, I was converted from a 4 cylinder Astra. Your sv8 is the poverty pack SS, I belive but has the same motor, so you should have a ffair idea about the power of these type of cars.

I think your after an XR8 from what im reading, but not much beats an Edited T and a few simple mods. Not too many XR8's out there and the dealers will flog them off cheaper than the T nowadays.

Lest us know how you get on and where your from, so we can point you in the irght direction.

Im confused as to why you say you think Im after an XR8? I am trying to be as open minded as I can. Im reality, I guess I already do have an idea of how V8's are to drive, and yes, they are sluggish on take off...and really start pulling once you're over 60Km/h...but really, with the amount of speed cameras around n stuff I'd probably get more fun out of giving it a quick burst upto 80-100Km/h and then back off...

SO perhaps the Turbo may be the better option for eveyday street driving.

I;m surprised that the XR8 gets such a bagging in here...!

Yes I do still live in the centre, so 40 - 45 degree summers can make a big dif with power! and as for: "And for anyones information a Stock Turbo will hose a stock XR8, all day, every day. " Even though this an xr6T site, I still find it hard to believe you can honestly say this. I very muhch doubt a stock turbo would "hose" an xr8. It would be very close, but I would put the money on the 8, especially if your saying "all day" becasue im sure the 6 would not cope with a hot engine as well as the 8. Just my 2 cents.

Cheers,

Joel

Well I wouldnt bag the XR8 as I would have got one if I didnt get a GT but the XR8 that I drove wasnt very quick and as I say I think it may have been becasue it was brand new.

They are both great cars

turbos are too high maintenance for me so my next ford will be a GT. but I wouldnt want an xr8 (not in BA,BF form anyway). I would go for a GT/GT-P anyday over an XR8. but I would rather have an xr6t over a typhoon.

Why an XR6T over the Typhoon?

stock there might not be much between an 8 an a 6t but if you had $1000 to spend on each one say a flash tune for example the 6t would eat the 8
