For starters you're asking the wrong people, as 99% of the people here have a T or a Phoon...having said that, you should really find a dealer that has both cars and do a back to back comparison...I think you will find there is no comparison between the two...

As a side note....are they still producing XR8's nowadays or have they hidden them away at the back of the yards :spoton:

I have a XR8 and I vote XR6T.

If it's the rush and wave after wave of torque you're after, it has to be the T.

If it's the presence and noise get the 8. But you'll have to spend large to get a reasonable car. CAI, full exhaust, diff gears, oil pump gears etc...

A reasonably fast car is way cheaper with the T.

XR8 soon to be for sale, I see a XR6T in my future.

I also have owned both, well not an XR8 but GT. First I owned an XR6 Turbo and loved it but wanted a V8 so I bought the GT. Probably wasn't quite as quick as I expected it to be and doesn't have much power down low. They seem to make most of their power up high in the rev range but they do sound awesome. Driving an F6 Typhoon now and I can say that it would leave the GT behind easy and with a few grand spent on it it would go even better. The only thing that I miss is that V8 sound. Either way I think both are great cars and it's really up to you as to what you want from the car. Good luck with the purchase :spoton:

the flash tuner is what you need to put tunes onto the cars ecu.. its not like the ls1's where they overwrite your factory map and your away (well it is essentially the same but you get slogged $800 for the box to do the transferring)

check out the capa website for more info!

Mate I've owned XR8 and XR6T, 8 has the sound I put a twin exhaust on it did go a little better. Then one day got blown away by a turbo and now I drive one with 325rwkw this power is achievable for under 5grand. Wheel spin 1,2 and 3rd and pulls very hard after 100k's!

Also handling wise the turbo is much better the 8 felt very spongy and heaps of over steer.

At the end of the day its depends on what you want if its bang for your buck and your willing to outlay some money go the turbo. If its sound, more fuel consumption and cruising go the 8.

Cheers Alf
