Anyone out there got an opinion on what speakers I should get installed. It's a hard choice, I was thinking about getting some 6.5" components for the front and some 6x9 coaxials on the parcel shelf. Speakers have to match the following criteria:

Front Speakers - Up to $300

Rear Speakers - Up to $200

Speakers are going to be driven by a Kicker 4 x 100WRMS Amp (I haven't got the specs or model number in front of me). And I was going to get a rockford fosgate 3sixty.1 signal processor. I was thinking about going this years top of the range Alpine Type R's for both fronts and rears. Or going a lower range MB Quart for both off USA ebay. I don't mind buying stuff from overseas or buying off ebay. And the main type of music I listen to top 40, r&b, older techno, like Darude - Sandstorm etc.

I wasn't really sure about the install, I know the factory holes are 5x7 in the front and rear, and didn't particularly want ugly plastic spacers. Would I be better off getting 5x7 speakers for the rear and 5x7 components for the front? :spoton:

Can any car audio enthusiasts or installers recommend a good combinations? And I was going to take it to Alberts Car Stereo in cannington for the install, can anyone recommend them or is there somewhere better around the cannington area.

Cheers

If your going to do anything audio I would firstly go and see Grant from Alberts Morley.

I havent come across anyone better when it comes to car audio and they've looked after me well and nearly everyone I know that's had audio work done.

I know MB Quartz have a 5x7 range and they'd be definately worth looking at. They're a little bit more than what you wanna pay but as anyone will tell you its well worth it.

In the end you get what you pay for. Save up your money and get something a little higher than your price range. You wont be disappointed. You've got a nice car obviously, dont scrooge on anything for it!

But definately go to Alberts Morley, he'll be happy to sit down and go through any combination of speakers or amps that you want..!

Good luck!

:spoton: cant recommend anyone in your area, but the advice given here is spot on....

only thing I'd add is, dont go 6x9's in the back....last thing you really want to do is overpower your front speakers. balance always sounds better than massive sound from the rear, afterall who watches a concert facing away from the stage :spoton:

I can vouch for Grant from Alberts Morley. I'd be going there.

At the end of the day, I not chasing a competition system. I just want something that sounds good, reasonably priced, loud enough to annoy my girlfriend. I was tempted to buy these speakers for the fronts.

MB QUART PVF-216 PREMIUM 6.5" COMPONENT SET

There going to cost about $350 all up including postage. I'm really really tempted. Just sold my Kicker Solo X 10" on ebay for $830, so I'm putting those funds towards speakers and my install.

My final install should be:

Factory 6CD stereo

Rockford Fosgate 3sixty.1

MB Quart PVF-216 (Serious Possibility)

Rear Speakers (Undecided)

2 x 12" MTX Subs running on Seperate 2 Channel

4 Channel Amp

2 x Stinger 3 Farad Caps SHD3M (Would you believe these things sell for $999 at ryda.com.au)

I only have to get the speakers, and then it's time to book it in for the install.

Ditto with everyone. Can't go wrong with MB Quartz. I bought some dse series for the front. Excellent - I wouldn't worry with the back as long as you get a good sub. I have had work done in Albert and Western Car Audio in Osborne Park. Great guys

Anyone out there using JL Audio Car Speakers?

I was thinking about getting these speakers:

Fronts

JL AUDIO XR570-CSi 5"x7" COMPONENT SPEAKERS

Rears

JL AUDIO XR570-CXi 5"x7" SPEAKER SET w/CROSSOVERS

All up including postage should cost me just under $600. I'd be pretty happy with that, they are factory size 5"x7", so they should drop straight in. And maybe it's a sign but there model number is XR.

I've got infinity's which sound great.

Also I'd be careful buying ANY speakers off ebay. I've read so many stories of people buying what look like factory built speakers(even when you examine them up close!), but when they connect them they sound like crap. There are ALOT of really good looking fakes out there that look the part but sound like sh*t. And the people selling them have excellent feedback ratings to(don't ask me how).

Just some advise...

Chris
