Anyone experienced the following...

I flashed my car back to factory.

Sold my CAPA box to someone else.

They took it to get it unlocked and it came up as still locked to my car, even though I definitely flashed it to factory (and it drives like a factory XR to prove it!)

The poor bloke I sold the box to is having a bit of a run-around to figure it out... good thing I still have access to my car to try and re-flash it to factory!

Anyone else experienced this with a second hand box?

Yeah...Im looking at getting a flash tuner that's already been used on one car...

Is it really worth the mucking around getting it unlocked?

Or should I just get a new one and be done with it?

So if I have a Capa flash 1, and take my car to a tuner to get a custom tune. Does he tune on my ECU and I dont use my flash tuner? or does he tune onto my flash tuner and I use that? im in darwin aswell and im not sure on a tuner that knows what he is doing, ta :)

Here's a vid on using the SCT XCAL3 with a Ford BA XR6 Turbo

Note that Mick from pit Lane Performance mentioned that the upload time for a BF or FG would be a 1/3 of the time taken for a BA.

Just a quick question for people using xcal3's. If I buy a unit that was purchased for a ba and I am running a bf engine can I get tunes to suit loaded. Also if the box has never been plugged into the car is it still VIN locked?.

It's not vin locked until it is used on a car, to check, power it up and see if it says married, if it does it has been used and is still locked to the other car.

Any tuner can load BF tunes over the BA tunes in the box

Thanks for clarifying that. I was pretty sure that it had to be plugged into a car to be paired with the tuner. Once it is connected to a car it is then VIN locked which is what I was thinking.
