No tuner tunes a car purposely to ping.If an owner drives a car when it consistantly pings, then they are foolish to say the least. Trying to blame someone else for this behaviour is pretty laughable. This is one of the funniest things that I have read for a long time ... That's Gold !! So yes... there no real extra stresses on engine components... Your engine in theory is making power more, more efficiently with the combination of your selected bolt on components...Pete cheers

That's Gold !!Well if you think it's funny let me try to explain it to you in serious terms, and this comment is not reflective of the experience of the thread starter.A tuner should road test a car before it leaves the shop after a tune to ensure that it is running well under road conditions, which are different to that on a dyno. Given this it's safe to assume that the car is not detonating at the time it leaves the shop.If it does start to have issues afterwards, like detonation, then the owner needs to take it to the tuner to have the problem looked at. This is what I mean by the owners responsibility. Components in cars deteriorate at this can at times cause detonation.I had a crap fuel pump installed which saw the car run slightly lean under full accleration a few months after it was installed. I heard the issue and took it to the tuner and had it replaced once it was diagnosed as the possible problem. For me to continually drive the car with this problem would have been silly on my part. I know of two cases when people have not returned their cars to tuners when issues have occured, chosing to simply keep driving the car, and both of them experienced major problems because of it. It is easy for us to make assumptions on what happened, we should all just wait to find out from the Engineers what REALLY caused the failure, and not continue to make assumptions. It must of been the car has changed then???

I surely trust you are not referring to me, of course not.Perhaps you would like me to post the dates and amount of time my car has beenback since recent upgrade and prior (including a 34 day long...fix). I think that would be an awful and unfair post. But, if it is the track you wish to follow, well, so be it.Here we go, when I have some time we will go down this track.EDIT TO POST: And yes, no doubt such issues on a long term basis, might lead to a situation such as mine, as you are saying. And I agree also the car should not be detonating after leaving the shop, let's say after a service and retune especially! Thanks for the clarification in writing, I do appreciate that. It's the sort of information that really helps me tremendously. Edited 23/06/07 12:35 PM by Power
