Anyone have a few pointers for this, I've searched but found bits of info here and there.

Photos or a link to another instruction would be good. I've checked the cars manual but not much there either.

Will I need a set of ramps the car is pretty low, hard to get under, where exactly is the fill point and drain plug?

Also seems to be some bolts missing under there, I'll post pics later.

You really want to get it up on stands and level, there is a drain plug. To fill most guys are filling them through the reverse switch plug so that you can get the correct amount of oil into the box.

by reading your above post , GET a mechanic to do it,

But if you insist , ramps are a good way to start provided you don't rip your bar off when loading the car on...

your drain plug is on you drivers side towards the rear off the box , remove it, drain your oil ( better to do this when it is hot as used dextron III tends to get a bit glugy when cold).. let it drain properly..

you Say there are bolts missing WTF ... I am assuming the box is standard factory fitment ie BA mrk11 or BF.. IF so there are no bolts missing and you are probably looking at extra holes in the the cross member.. that is normal..

The fill point that you should use is the reverse light switch on the RHS of the box, remove it do not the one on the left side of the gearbox as it has become obsolete... fill with 4 litres of castrol transmax Z .... and happy motoring mate. :pirate:

I believe it's more like 4.6ltrs.

You can also jack it up from the passenger side to get the right amount in.

Muzza.

Ford will tell you 4.6... to try and eliminate rollover noise . Mal Wood will tell you 4 is more than adequate ... I know who I would be listening too..

Thanks for the replies, just had the car up on ramps and filling via the reverse sensor seems like a task I CBF doing ATM. Well at least I have the oil now and I'll get it put in at next service which is 4000kms away..

cheers.

haaa do what youngy and I did. Put it on ramps to drain it and then when filling, take the car off the stands then jack up the passenger side only. You can get 4+ litres in this way (I.e. use the normall fill hole) and don't have to use the reverse sensor :) For gods sake though, make sure you put stands etc in the appropriate places and always be cautious.

Ok decided to not let it get the better of me.. I'll put it up on ramps drain it then let it down jack it up on passenger side and fill it through the obsolete hole.
