I just want someone that knows what the numbers actually mean to tell me if everything is in order. Now I own a BA MKII Turbo 4 speed Auto. I didn't want to mod my car too much but just wanted a safe tune. The only mods I have done are: typhoon CAI, auto trans cooler and NGK BKR6E spark plugs (.8mm gap). Oh, I am using BP Ultimate (98 RON).Even though I am happy with the power change (from stock), I was a little dissapointed that I didnt even get to the 220rwkw! I expected around 235rwkw like most get from stock. My tuner tells me that the valves springs have let me down as they are too weak. He wanted $800 for fittment of valve springs with a re-tune.Now my question is:Is it worth doing the valve springs? Would I notice more power? Again I dont want to mod my car any further - like CAT's, exhuast, injectors, intercooler etc.... And nor do I thrash my car or do I really ever exceed above 130km. Hence, I don't race my car but love the take off to 100km/h or so!Can someone please offer any advice as is it really worth forking out another $800 for another 20rwkw at top end I guess! Thanks heaps... byi Donating Members 159 Member For: 19y 4m 30d Posted 09/06/07 08:04 AM Share Posted 09/06/07 08:04 AM (edited) I had a simular problem that my valve springs prohibited suitable power gains. After receiving advice from Paul at Elite Auto a set of Cobra springs were installed and voila instant results. I would listen to the advice of your tuner Cheers, Edited 09/06/07 08:05 AM by byi

Guest bluprinturbo Guests Posted 09/06/07 09:48 AM Share Posted 09/06/07 09:48 AM its rare to hear of valve spring dramas with these power levels.I had my 130,000km 2003 ba turbo edited and got 244rwkws.I think its worth a second opinion too.where are you situated and who tuned your t?if your in brizzy I wouldnt go anywhere else except redcliffe dyno. Do you have a boost graph?
Fat-Tony Member 5,364 Member For: 18y 9m 29d Posted 09/06/07 05:06 PM Share Posted 09/06/07 05:06 PM I wouldn't bother with anything unless you are intent on changing those injectors. Both go hand in hand for gaining power up top, change the valve springs and there is no where near enough head room in the stock injectors to make use of them and vice versa. Its impossible to make a determination as to why your car is lacking in power, what kind of a difference valve springs would make without actually knowing what timing and boost values have been inputted any information offered is just a guess. For all we know your injectors could be maxed out at that level and thus hampering any further efforts to extract power from the car without running it lean and unsafe. Do yourself a favour and go for a spin in a car that has valve springs and injectors and I can be certain that you will want to atleast modify your car to that level and have a better understanding of what those modifications do for you up top in the power curve if tuned properly. I'd visit another tuner first and get their thoughts before doing anything as I'm reluctant to believe the valvesprings are the problem. BTW injectors and intercooler were less than $1000, if you want more power I wouldn't rule them out.
