Hi all

Just wondering if everyone here puts all their little mods such as BOV mod and 2nd cold air intake mods back to stock when you get your car taken in for a warranty job or a service at your ford dealer?

Has anyone had their warranty (or some of it) voided from something like a typhoon CAI added to their xr6t air box?

Or by fitting aftermarket rims has anyone had their suspension/steering warranty voided when they went in for a service...etc

Just curious, never had new car warranty before and I want to get a few little things fixed up.

Cheers.

I had my car back under warranty a while ago for the power steering shudder. Then only a couple weeks I go I took it back coz it was happening again. I had 20" rims put on in between these 2 visits and on the 2nd visit ford told me the power steering hose had split. They replaced it under warranty and all they said was "the 20" doesn't help the situation as they increase the strain". They still replaced it and I haven't had a problem with any warranty work, even after replacing the intercooler & suspension/wheels as well.

YEah those 20's will make all the difference. Sounds like ford were struggling to find a real reason to knock back this warranty job.

Couldnt be fcuked ripping mods off just for some warranty work.

I had my 3k service a few weeks ago, flashed it back to stock and had the F6 intake/aftermarket filter.

No hassles at all.

that's good to hear. But im guessing taking in a broken car for warranty work is different to a service in terms of them voiding warranty.

Call the dealer you bought it from, and speak with the Service Manager. A lot of the dealers will run through things with you for what can and cannot be modified within the realm of your warranty.

Things like suspension, if you replace shocks, springs, swaybars and bushes then they wont warrant as they are obviously no longer Ford parts, other suspension parts that remain original will most likely be warranted.

The best way to look at a warranty, is that its there for piece of mind if you want to just drive you car from A - B and not change a thing on it. If you choose to modify your vehicle then you pretty much accept all responsibilty for any breakages. Your changing your vehicle for your benefit, but outside the scope of the original packages 'ability'

Best speak with the guys you bought it from. Just ask what you can and cannot do, dont tell them what you have already done, tell them that you would like to do what you have already done.
