We had a rare chance, along side with an BBC weather guide a walk through the destruction of the small town of Greensburg and like to share with you guys some pictures from that day.The Greensburg tornado was on the ground for 22 miles non-stop and 30 minutes. Maximum winds were estimated at 205 mph. This is the first fatal storm in southwest Kansas since 1967. The twister was 1.7 miles wide. A storm of this magnitude is the first in 8 years in the US - the last was May 3rd of 1999 in central Oklahoma. 12 people lost there lives sad to say.Homes Greensburg: 1,700 Destroyed: 961 Major Damage: 105 Minor Damage: 67 Affected: 11 (broken windows, shingles & gutters) Businesses Major Damage: 110 Minor Damage: 24 Here are some I took:

I even had a chance to talk with some residence from the town and payed my regards. One even offered me a beer and gave me a guided tour of his property showing his banker/seller where the family waited out the storm. Rob... Posted 06/06/07 08:24 AM Share Posted 06/06/07 08:24 AM Another reason why I'm proud to live in Aus, none of the scary weather that they get over there! We get cyclones, plus we also get tornado's luckly because aust is no where nearly as densly populated most of these things happen in the middle of no where. Also when I was young a tornado went through our suburb in canberra (about 15 years ago) it did some damage to houses but the funny thing was the only building properly distroyed was the church they where building down the road. They desided that god has spoken and didn't restart building it.
