Hey guys, just picked up a BA XR6T yesterday (and love it) and plan to do some work to it, my question is, can I put on the F6 air box then high flow cat and replace center muffler without needing to get the custom tune and injectors right away? id like to do it all bit by bit rather than spending all the cash at once and do injectors and tune at the same time.

They seem to be the common mods im reading about on this forum, im wanting about 280 rwkw and I want it to be reliable.

The car is an auto by the way which will most likely be beefed up before the tune/injectors

will I need valve springs aswell?

Air intake and centre muffler you can do without edit, if you want to do the cat you will need to edit at the same time. Budget in for some valve springs and an intercooler also with your list of other mods and you should be able to make 300 odd at the rear wheels safely. I wouldn't waste time beefing up the auto. A compotent tuner will adjust your shift points with the edit. Worry about it if it breaks, chances are you will only break the planetries :stirthepot:

sounds good, was wanting to use the F6 intercooler, but im thinking I might need something bigger that wont get hot after a few runs, or do you think the F6 cooler is ok?

dont want to break Auto's that's for sure, would rather make is strong in the first place and not worrie bout it again, might upgrade trans oil cooler? good idea?

I tend to agree with fat tony about the gearbox.the planetries are the weakpoint and as far as I know there arent any stronger ones yet.so basically your $1500-$2000 strengthen will still have the same weakpoint as stock.also not wanting to put you off the way your going to go about your mods,very sensible approach actually,but if you add up the cost of cai,cat and centre muffler job you would get a custom edit for that.

so if planetries are the weakest point, and there isnt a upgrade, whats the hope for us 4speeders??

I plan to do the exhaust and F6 airbox and then when I get more funds do the edit, so that way im not going back and forth, that's the plan anyhow. and id like to do the injectors at the same time as the tune, id like to make sure that I dont hurt the motor at all.

thanx for the feed back on the auto, ill have a hunt for info bout the 4spd, I had one built for my 347 stroker in my old EF and was pretty happy with that, but it had less power than what the XR will put out, but on the other hand the power in the 347 was alot different and like what what said earlier the way it shifts will make a big difference, nothing to harsh but faster than the stock shift.

from what ive heard there in development.as for the meantime earlier model replacements or cryo seem to be the go.theres plenty of guys still running around with there stockers still holding up.
