Take it a step further.

Not only challenge the issue in court, but report the copper to his distict commander.

His behaviour sounds atrocious and is exactly the thing that gives cops a bad name. If the commander sees that there is a complete lack of evidence, then they may well drop the charges before it goes to the expense of court costs.

A few years ago, my friend got booked by a Highway Patrol wa*ker because he had Zenon headlights that looked blue at some angles. The fine was for impersonating a police vehicle???!! The next day my friend went to the station where the cop was from and reported the incident to the ranking officer who immediatly withdrew the fine, especially considdering that the lights were standard.

:roflmbo:

I WAS NOT DRAGING OR SPEEDING, if I was I would except it no problem.

I am and always will be responsable for my actions, but I wont cop flake for some one else booting off beside me and then I getting accused of speeding and draging.

Also thanks ZAP for the idea about writing the event down, I have writen the events leading up to the "so called" event and all the little details like traffic which lane I was in what we were talking about in the car e.g like you said this could be verey usefull as I have recalled the hole event detail for detail.

you watch, if you get off for speeding they will probably try and do you for careless driving I.e. talking across to another car, pricks!!

make sure you mention the "VZ ss weaving in and out of traffic" but add dangerously to it and say it was very unprofessional hotheaded FARKEN HOONLIKE behaviour hahahaha..

actually nah that will probably provoke the SOB even more

Funny story here, I did what you said sort of.I rang up the station and asked to speak to the sgt of TMU to try and settel the problme before it went to court but you wouldnt belive who the sgt was.

The same guy I took to court about 2 months ago and I one the case against, so I quickly said I have to go, that guy will be out for my blood.

pretty small world.

Faaaaaaaark Me! There not paid on commision or per ticket. If they give one out or not doesnt change there lives or help them pay the mortgage any quicker.

What does his commander havet to do with it, he wasnt there? Your avenue for a full blown winge is to the magistrate and let them decide.

:furious: Yep, at the end of the day it doesnt change their lives.

they are merely doing there job's and there's pretty much near f*ck all we can do about it except accept it.

We may not like they way things are but, they could be ALOT worse.

At least the cop wasnt in a more pissed off mood, he could have taken the car or pretty much done anything he wanted..

The point has noting to do with commissions, but your reply highlights my point.

Actions such as this give the Police a bad name in general (hence your attitude). However, on the whole, the majority of the cops are just average blokes that will give a fair go (the hardliners and power mongers seem to gravitate towards Highway Patrol for some reason).

The commander would generally be someone who is more aware of Police/public relations, and the court processes (and he is more aware of their budgets). If he is a reasonable person, he would see that this situation only fuels negativity to the Police as a whole, and that taking this matter to court will only be a waste ofd their time (most cops hate court).

If the matter is able to be resolved in this manner before the expense of court actions, then its well worth a go.

Court action should always be a last resort as the expense usually outweighs the gains.

Impossible! Even the most minor of tickets must follow due course through the corts if the offending driver wishes it to contest it. No commander or even commisioner can interfere with the due process that must follow, otherwise issues of corruption and breaches of integrity would be raised and a complete loss of faith by the wider community would result. And why would cops hate going to court, dont they get paid or something??

It is not impossible, they have procedures they can follow. It has happened.

You obviously don't know any cops. Court is boooooooring, it is also a place where cops time and time again have their integrity put into question by defending lawyers. It is also a waste of their time, when they could be out doing what they joined the force for.
