HellionXR6T I'm Back!! Thats right, long over due! :) Lifetime Members 4,348 Member For: 22y 6m 3d Gender: Male Location: West Brisbane Posted 03/06/03 01:29 AM Share Posted 03/06/03 01:29 AM I came straight from the biggest mistake I have ever made.2002 AU Series III XR6 VCT.Don't get me wrong.....The car was absolutley brilliant *** (It's a Ford) *** but I wish we never laid eyes on it. It is the reason, (And Haven't I said this before), the reason why we do not have a Phantom TURBO at home instead of the Phantom N/A. Would have been better off if we waited a year. Cars would have more or less been paid off and we could have easily been able to afford a base model TURBO.I do a lot of kms travelling to Ipswich and back 5 times a week therefore the AU was losing a massive amount of value to the k's I was clocking up and also thanks to the new arrival, the BA series. As it was, we had a refinance of our house to swallow the $14,000 baloon payment and loss of money on the AU and our previous 2 cars, (the ED XR6 and the 98 Festiva), in order to get a good price on the AU, I had to act straight away. The BA is a better car all round. Dual VCT.10 kw more power. SSS shift, so at least I can now pretend I'm in a manual, thanks dear :D More powerful and responsive. Is 100% more appealing to the eye than the AU ever was. It was cheaper, even after fully optioning her up.We are $70.00 better off a fortnight which may seem like nothing to most of you but every little bit adds up.Still wish I was complety broke and had the TURBO....lol. No offense, but you expected what exactly when switching from a 4WD, built-for off-road tank to a sedan Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/3526-where-did-we-come-from/page/2/#findComment-26259 Share on other sites

I was going to get a AU III XR6 but delayed on advice from Ford of all places. As to the KW output - my old doco says the AU3 VCT XR6 pulls 164kw.The BA na XR6 pulls 182 kw so your gain was over 18kw Trust me - you made the right decision - I just hope the XR6T holds it's value for 4 years as that is how long I'll be keepin the car before I upgrade again. It actually is 172kw B) You may be referring to the Standard AU III XR6. Mate. I wish I got the same advice. I was screwed to be perfectly honest. "Bryan Byrt Ford": They said "You are better off going for a revised car as opposed to getting a series 1". I thought, "Well, fair enough". Makes sense. The thing that put me off is that the dealer said that the BA series would be way more expensive than the AU III Series....WTF? They are cheaper in most cases. I wasn't too impressed but ate 'humble pie' at the time.Oh well, I still have a damn fine car, just not a 'fire breather' like you guys! Guest Xr6Tas Guests Posted 03/06/03 04:32 AM Share Posted 03/06/03 04:32 AM VX1 Berlina here Only had it a few months. Realised what a terrible mistake I had made, and decided to make the move to a BA to make up for it. I originally planned to get an XT with a few extras, but that idea quickly evolved into an XR6 NA. Next thing I knew I was driving out of Westpoint in an XR6T with a heap of extras :D 2000ks later and I'm loving it!
