Adrian,

Looks nice and professional, but I think you might run into 2 problems.

1. The distance between the 2 side holes may be too close together. All the electronic senders I have seen are wide and would not fit side by side, also the factory oil switch is big.

2. the length of the T piece may hit the engine mounts.

I hope I am wrong, as it looks like a nice professional job.

Amazing, got a call early this morning from Crawford who finished my sump plug! Had a good yarn again with him, he does all sorts of things for people, including engine parts for a couple of old 1985 season F1 Ferraris that someone bought. They are from during the turbo days of F1 and they put out ~700hp and run 3.5 bar boost. :w00t2: Anyway he is an interesting character to say the least and did a fantastic job for me even though it's such a small thing. Check out the pics.

From top to bottom, standard sump plug, new custom plug and oil temp sender.

He even put a nice copper collar around the edge going to the block to avoid leaks.

Here's one with the sender screwed in to the new plug. The hex for the new plug is 15mm just like the original.

View from external thread looking back shows the hole going straight through to allow oil to get to the sender.

Very happy, now just have to put it all together on the weekend. :w00t2:

Very nicely done !!

Make sure you " anneal " the copper washer by heating it so it's nice and red before you but it in to cold water.

Makes it nice and soft so it can seal better.

Not sure if that was already done, as the copper washer is already fixed to the plug and also extends about 0.5mm beyond the metal of the plug. It's not just sitting in place, it's made to be integrated to together is as best as I can describe. I think I'd have a very hard time trying to pry it off, so it's there to stay. As far as I'm aware the whole plug ready to use, well at least that's what I wanted so I'll give it a go and monitor for leaks. :w00t2:

That looks great. By looking at the size of your sender im a bit worried now. Im sure my machine shop can sort something out.

BTW how much did it end up costing you?

Thanks, yeah it seems alot of oil temp senders are that shape with metal extending from the thread like that. My oil pressure one ends at the thread, but has a big chamber, kinda looks like an old bicycle bell.

Oh I knew you would ask how much, probably not the most expensive sump plug ever, but $100 must be close for a Ford. :w00t2: Can't really argue with the quality and speed at which he made it for me though.
