Hi all,

I remember seeing somewhere on here that there were options to consider when strengthening the T's diff. My question is what can actually be strengthened apart from CV's and who does it? I had mine redone about 2500km's ago and after a few passes at the drags last week it's time for another freshen up :crybaby:

Cheers.

What they do depending on how much you wanna spend is make the gears like you crown wheel and pinion gear with a harder surface finish so the end product is over-all alot stronger. They can also do this to the spider gears and your axle gears depending on whether your looking at putting a l.s.d in again or goin for a locker which is a very different set up to yor standard diff, they can also change the thickness of your splines on the axle gears and your axle so that they can cope with greater torque.

A few years ago I had my diff rebuilt by a place in osbourne park bt I can't remember the name, I'll try and chase the paper work down and let you know if you like, they did a top job and were pretty reasonably priced.

The thing with diffs is depending on how strong you want to go they can get expensive very quick, I had one guy try and quote me 1500 bucks just for the crown wheel itself. There is plenty of places around just need to look about I'm sure they will come quiet competitive when you try to get them to price match.

Hope this gives you some help.

So what do people recommend getting strengthened? CV's are a must cause it's a manual but what else?

Can anything be done to stop the bushes and bearings needing to be replaced? Do they need to often be replaced due to the amount of play/movement that the diff has? As I said, I had an overhaul only 2500km's ago and it's clunking like hell already :crybaby:

2500km's ago.... sounds very odd. Go back to the people that overhauled it. There's no way it should be clunking already.

yeh I'd be goin straight back to the guys that re-built it last time for you, that's not a very long time for it to last specially as you said you only did a couple of runs and it started to clunk
