I have just pick-up my XR6 Turbo Ute. All of Fords specifications and options have stated that on the ute traction control is not available, and that LSD is standard instead of the traction control.

To my surprise, my ute DOES have Traction Control, with the off button on the dash. Although it still has no mention of it in the owners manual. The car is a May 03 build. Do any other Turbo Ute owners have the Traction Control ?

Hmmm.. If you push the button does the light come on in the dash..

Could be that the dufus guys on the line have installed the button / sedan dash by mistake..?

Some cars with premium sound have had the wrong a pillar mouldings installed over the small speakers...

Simple to fine out. B)

Go and find some durt. Nail it and see if it spins the wheels or coffs and carrys on like it is miss firing!

The ute's only done 200km so I haven't tried it to see if the traction control is really there or not. If the button is pressed, nothing lights up on the dash. I'll also try to have a look under the dash to see if it has connecting wires or if it's a dummy switch.

I'll try it & let you know.

It's just hard to get the smile off your face after you drive it :D

Mate,

Id say they have put the button in by mistake.

Even though it only has 200km on it. You dont have to push hard to make the wheels slip..! ;)

Glad you like your new ride!

The T/C is on by default EVERY time you start the engine and when switched off there should be a orange icon on the instrument cluster depicting a wheel spinning.

The same icon will illuminate/flash when driving IF the T/C activates due to loss of traction.

Take it easy in the ute mate expecially in the wet. These utes can be very sideways at a drop of a hat,No T/C.So much fun but I have to admit.Enjoy as you wont get the smile of your dial for weeks.

Some pics would be good.

I have now checked the traction control out ( It has been raining!). Firstly the switch is connected into the wiring loom, although there is no light on the dash to indicate on/off. The switch does illuminate with the headlights on.

But the traction control must not be installed. The wheels just spin.

Ford must have installed the switch as part of the wiring loom only. I guess the diff rear end may not be able to accept the required sensors?

O'well, I'm over it, still enjoying it.

Pictures coming on the weekend.

AWW XR6T UTE,

On ya mate.. :drivingalong:

Just as we had thought.. Goes to show. Never say never. The boys on the production line do some crazy stuff some times. Like putting switches / buttons in where they are not needed. The wrong a pillar covers etc..

Enjoy!! B)
