Why Are We Waiting?

OK, I was prepared for a wait, but this is verging on the rediculous.

I have heard from Kloster Ford (I have no problem naming them, this is not defamatory) that my T is bring put off until late September, despit having being ordered 4 months ago and originally due for delivery this week. Firstly it was delayed for 4 weeks for unknown reasons. Then 2 weeks ago they say that it is being delayed for a further 8 weeks. What the? This time they are blaming inability to supply turbos (the part, therefore the car too).

This means that due to the deal I am getting the car on that I will not have it personally until late November.

I am thinking that Ford Dealers might be delaying the delivery of Tax Ex government cars, due to possibly making more profit from retail sales. My car is apparently number 3 out of 25 government vehicles on order at Kloster Ford.

WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?

Andrew

Andrew,

IMO, you are spot on....they are probably reallocating your car to retail sales since they get a bigger profit sooner. It's the standard pecking order...fleet and Gvt orders are last ONLY followed by employee discount orders.

Can you change dealers or cancel the order due to them not providing the car "on time"? I had a similar problem and was lucky enough to find a dealer (Westpoint in Melb) who were able to GUARANTEE me a car, then I cancelled the original order. Got my car 2 - 3 months sooner than if I stuck with the original dealer.

To add to RichDaves post, check out City Ford if you have the opportunity to change dealers. I am sure they can get you a way better delivery date on your T.

My salesman at McGraths Ford here in Canberra advised that if you order your T in June you now won't get it till November.

He also advised to keep your eyes open as Ford will be offering very attractive deals on the XR8 and GT.

Due to the volume of orders for the XR6 (na and T) there is really no discounting available - that is not the same with the XR8.

So if you are waiting for a T but are happy to get a bargain then I would look at the XR8 as a solution.

I agree with richdave. The only thing I will add though is that it seams that Klusters.. sorry, Klosters, must be makeing an extra special effort to sc**w you over.

The reason I say this is that I ordered my car on the Ford Employee Discount Program, fully expecting an extended delay, but have been advised my car will be ready on the 25 June.

Yes I know, I haven't GOT IT yet and time will tell but I can confim that my car with my SIDO is currently bing built. If it comes near this delivery date then it will be less that 3 months so I'm happy.

Sounds to me like Klosters are all too happy to bump you further down the list in orde to sell 'your' car at full RRP.

that's my $0.02...
