F6BF ( a question a bit more on topic)-- I saw the information you posted on the ZF 6HP26 transmission is do you have the same information for the ZF 6HP32 transmission that has been produced in some Euro cars like the BMW series, Bentley TT and Arnage, and thene w Rolls Phantom. Also does anyone know about modding the 6HP32 transmission to bolt up to the 5.4 Ford block -- as I understand the computer will need to be modded and also the flywheel needs to be setback:

"The 6HP32 will not even bolt up let alone have the correct distance from flex plate to box. Then ZF have never programmed the Internal Computer of a 6HP32 to communicate with A Ford PCM."

Thanks,

Nick

Hi Nick and welcome to the forum

I know the box u are talking about 6HP32 rated at 1000nm of torque, have spoken to ZF and they tell me it will fit straight in everything matches to fit in the fords

But as u have mentioned the problem is the control module no software for the fords

Ja ja kann ich ein Bit von Deutsch sprechen

Nick aka dynowog has got the ZF in my XR8 to change really hard, it'll happily chirp into second all day long... full throttle of the lights yeilds heaps of wheelspin all the way to 2nd gear... but it's holds second due the difference in wheel speed...

all this with just an edit.

Dave.

How different are the two gearboxs. 6HP26 and 6HP32 sound like they are not that different.

If they are physically the same on the outside then its most likely the insides are similar also.

I understand that the computer for the box is located inside the box. Maybe this could be swapped around. The end plug to the car harness might be different but this could still be made to fit.

It requires further investigation.

They can't be too similar, ZF and Ford had to make a Ford specific version to get it to fit. They changed a few things compared to other versions. There should be all the info on the press release Ford sent out when it was released floating around on here somewhere. There's a copy of it on FF.

turbotrana have looked into this

The 26 and the 32 are the same box only different internals

The 26 control module will fit straight into the 32 but the 26 programing is wrong for the 32, shift timing and shift quality will be all over the shop

Once trans edit is available then its a different story

I thought the edit wasnt able to fiddle with the ZF's TCM yet??? also my car chirps second gear and its pretty much stock.... unless your car is putting out more power leading you to beleive its shifting better....then again, what do I know

The line pressures in the ZF can still be increased with just edit which is what fordboy1981 is talking about. I got it done to mine when I got my mods done.
