Took the XRT to the local garage to have an intermediate oil change done seeing as it's too hard for the local Ford dealer to quote. I provided the oil and filter.

When I went back the mechanic shows me the "AIR FILTER" they replaced????? What the????? Why were you even looking at the air filter? While the oil was draining they decided to clean the air filter and give a general check over. When they looked the air filter had squashed at one end and wasn't sealing. So I could see why they replaced it when they showed me. Replaced by Ford 7,200klm's ago.

Then I thought I'm outa pocket $28 for a filter. Went to the Dealer who firstly looked up when and who replaced the filter. He then went to spares and gave me a new filter to take back to local garage so I wouldn't be charged. Then went looking for their mechanic who did the work.

Also the local mechanic who worked on the car wanted to know when I was selling the car bacause he would be very interested.

Have had my 3 XR's serviced at various places but the best place would be Compass Ford in Bunbury nothing has ever been too much trouble and they usually come in around $100 cheaper than the Perth dealers

At me 3000K complimetory inspection I got a complimentory scratch in the bonnet. They said they dont use any tools on the car for such a service, but they left a screwdriver in the engine bay and a socket and rag in the drivers side floor.

Its an insult for Ford to build such cars and look after them so badly.

It worries me to hear all these stories about poor service and the like as it reflects badly on all ford dealers. I for one have been 100% happy with my dealer and I'm sure there are others in the same boat as me. I'm not saying there all good but don't tar everyone with the same brush.

:roflmbo:

Everyone talks like it's Ford's fault.

If you brought a carton of milk from the local store and it was off are you going to be pissed at the milk company or the shop? The shop obviously.

So why is all of this Ford's fault. Some dealers have mindless twits working there, and so do hundreds of other mechanical workshops regardless of product, brand or services.

I am more than happy with my dealer and have had no problems at all. I've gone to the same dealer to purchase and service my ute for almost 4 years and I can't see that changing. I have an extended warranty with locked in prices which are very reasonable, I get my a loan car for the day, I can supply my own oil etc, they have no issues with any of my mods (obviously if something breaks due to the mods then that's my responsibility).

Alot of you are lucky you have multiple dealers to chose from, I only have one in my area and luckily they're a good one. If you have problems with your dealer try another one if that's possible for you. If not, use an independant and only use Ford for the warranty stuff.
