Bugger all traffic, and decent roads Night life is pretty dead, thursdays, fridays and saturdays being the main exception. It depends what sort of stuff you're into though. Canberra is about a 10th the size of Melbourne so dont expect masses of people. other things:2 hours to the beach3 hours to Sydney CBDultra easy to get around - good logical roads, not much traffic10 min to Queanbeyan! (I guess its our version of Geelong)Make of it what you will cobber

Thursday nights are good for 2 for 1 drinks at some night clubs in civic. There's some good drives, and scenic places around canberra. The snowies is always good, so too are places like the cotter and tidbinbilla. They're always a good drive. And yep, APK are still open in woden. I don't mind canberra, I love the fact it's not congested, and it's pretty easy to get from A to B..

On your way back to the main road try get your rear end airborn at the right hander hill right after the bridge. Continue onto Tharwa, and turn left at the "Servo" to go back to Tuggeranong or turn right to head over to Honey Suckle creek. After that it turns to dirt, so if you don't mind keep going to Adaminaby, if you do mind turn around and head back.Probably the twistiest drive in Canberra, it starts right off the Tuggeranong Pkway at Weston Ck, and finishes at Tuggeranong. Leave yourself about 1 hour for this run.As you start exploring the offshot roads along the Cotter/Tidbinbilla road you'll find a few short runs to Brindabella Road, The Taboggining Park (this one is real fun), etc.. but most if not all require U-turns so you don't go on dirt.Another great trip is the one down to Batemans Bay via the Clyde Mountain (hours of fun can be had here), and the trip down to Bega via the Brown Mountain. Or do a loop, go down the Brown, to Bega, Tathra Bermagui, Moruya, Batemans Bay, up the Clyde and back home. Leave a day for this though. The best trip though; Snowies!! The best roads in NSW, possibly mainland Australia. Head down to Cooma, Jindabyne & Thredbo. After this it starts to get fun as you head down Dead Horses Gap to Tom Groggin & Khancoban. Continue onto Cabramurra, then Kiandra, Adaminaby Cooma - Home.Alternatively after Cabramurra you can head to Tumut rather than Adaminaby and travel home via Gundagai and Yass.Leave a whole day for this trip, be well rested and make sure your car is in good shape (brake pads, tyres, etc..). To get back to Canberra you need to do a U turn and go back through the Cotter. Corin Forrest Bobsled/Alpine Slide is out that way (about halfway between Cotter and Tharwa, after Tidbinbilla) and is worth a look. They close the slide in Winter as it snows out there, not really enough to ski on, maybe ok for toboggoning but mostly just for sightseeing. Then a very fun 15 mins to the bottom. Followed by even better fun for the 15 mins it takes to do the "hill climb" back to the top.PS. Times are indicative only (based on my T3) and no responsiblity will be accepted if it takes you longer.:roflmbo:
